I sold a graded 9.5 BGS card BV of $4.00 on Ebay for $100 last week.

Last month I listed some cards on a Facebook buy/sell General merchandise group. I sold a $12 graded BGS 8.5 rookie card of Drew Brees for $50.

A card is worth only what a customer is willing to pay for it.

This. I don't think I've ever paid book value for any card, but I've certainly paid many times over book value for the same card in a slabbed case from Beckett with a 9.5 plaque in it. It's all about what the buyer is willing to pay.

It's only worth what you're willing to pay. I've paid 5x book (sometimes more) for rare Moss cards I need.

the value in beckett only serves as one indicator of the actual value of a card

This. But the transaction must take place for the value to be realized.
