I would say buy something that you've had your eye on that you normally wouldn't get, but save some for either some packs or some boosters. Maybe even go to your LCS and see if they have any hobby boxes for cheap, and use a little to bust a few packs.

Buy a graded copy - 1981 Joe Montana.
Seriously. Because when you don't want it anymore - you can sell it for nearly the same that you bought it for. No risk.

I would go with three routes.

1. Buy a bunch of singles of guys you like

2. Buy 1 card that will be the cornerstone of your PC

3. Save the $200 until you know exactly what you want or if possible keep adding to the $200 and then buy something epic

Opening a $200 hobby box would be fun, but nailing some singles would be wiser. You know exactly what you're getting and need not turn anything around to get what you really want.
