Red passed, Bird moved on, Antoine is....in a casino somewhere, Walter is hanging out with Tommy, KG isn't a true Celtic (still spent more of his career elsewhere). Throughout the years it was Pierce's Celtics. I grew up in Massachusetts and did a brief medical residency and B&W so there is a little connection there, although not as much as Showley's because he lives closer to Boston than I do.
It was very painful for me to watch Paul Pierce last year. He wasn't the Paul Pierce that I remember, period. I am very sad to see him go somewhere in the East because I am not sure Brooklyn has what it takes to beat Miami, even with KG and Pierce(they lost in the first round this year to a Chicago team w/o DRose, right?). I would love to see him win another ring and I know #34 will be in the rafters soon after retirement.
Pierce is a tertiary collection for me but I will still collect his stuff in a Celtics uni.
Yeah I have always liked Pierce. He is a great player and is very consistent. I could understand the strong desire to win a ring but its a sad day when all these teams and players try to build super teams. Not saying its right or wrong but just seems to be the trend in the NBA. I cant say if teams shouldnt do it or not becauae i do not know what it is like to win a championship but it almost seems like this is the only way to compete.

There is too much stuff from 2000-current that is "all the same" in my eyes. I save money for his hard to find rookie year stuff so I don't spend much on newer stuff. With that being said I will be on the lookout for a real nice Brooklyn patch card using a Brooklyn jersey next year.

I really would have liked him to stay with the C's. However, if all three picks are unprotected I think it is a great move for Boston. Even Joe Montana, Michael Jordan and Bobby Orr all played for other teams. What I will hate to see is if he bounces around to three or four teams before retiring. Robert Parish went down that road chasing a four ring and it gets nasty.
Yeah i asked because i knoe you collect Celtics cards and didnt know if you only collected Pierce because he was a Celtic or because he is your favorite player or both. I collect MJ and collected any of his cards regardless of team. Some only collect his Bulls stuff.

I'm 31, and was I introduced to the Celtics at a very young age by my grandmother. As a result Pierce is the first truly great Celitic that I have been able to follow. He was drafted when I was in high school, hit stride when I was in college, and won a championship when I was in my mid-20's. I was a young emotional fan when Reggie Leiws was drafted, and remember the big three but did not understand what they truly did until later in life. I collect Pierce because he is a Celtic, and even in Brooklyn he will be a Celtic. I will want a nice card to mark that part of his career. I am a Celtic fan, but I will cheer for Pierce wherever he plays.

I told my wife many years ago to start saving the funds so that we could buy tickets to the game when his number gets raised to the rafters.
