Rookie Question

Rookie Question
I collect NFL Rookie cards from Western PA (WPIAL) and there are 2 players that don't have cards that were rookies last year but looks like they are going to be starters. They are Gino Gradkowski and Tommie Campbell. I guess my two questions are 1) Is there a possibility that they have cards this year and 2) if they do will they be marked with the RC on the card. Thanks for you help ahead of time.

RE: Rookie Question
I don't think they'll be marked as RC, but they will be considered RCs if they haven't had cards of them made yet. A lot of the later 80s Topps cards didn't have cards of the players until they after their first year, and those are considered their rookie cards. Reggie White stands out in my mind as one.

Reggie Whites USFL card is considered his rookie. It sells for triple the amount of his NFL one.

RE: Rookie Question
If they garner the attention of the card companies and or collectors push for them to get a card then they might but they wont have the RC on the card. Richard Sherman didnt have any rookie cards in 2011 but was included in the 2012 contenders base so it counted as his RC.

RE: Rookie Question
That answers my questions exactly, I knew older cards had rookies after their first year but wasn't sure if they still did that. Thank you guys for your help

RE: Rookie Question
A good example (current example) is Lavar Arrignton. His RC card is technically the 2004 Topps chrome....

Even though there are these....

Of course the less obscure and more obvious answer would be - Joe Montana. His first year in the league as 1979. RC is 1981.

That's odd to me. So I think I remember LaVar being picky with who he'd sign with to have cards made of him.

Sage is the only company to have his Autos.

Im assuming 2004 is the first year Topps was able to make cards of him. If that's the case, do they stamp the card with RC the first year they are able to make it no matter what year that might be compared to his actual rookie year?
