Anyone doing banners?

I can knock a few out this weekend as well as I'm on vacation starting this evening. I've done one for Zero_Dave, and a few others.

anybody know how to use GIMP 2 to make banners?? Or is photoshop the best way?? wish there was a cheaper way to get photoshop..
