i have to say, i could kick myself over and over for a major screw up on my part. it's my fault for trying to get the quick buck and not doing enough research...
busted 2012-13 panini preferred basketball a few weeks after it first came out. wasn't too familiar with the product, but at $175/pack, four cards in a box, i thought i'd try my luck. after busting about half a case, and getting nothing really good to speak of (no good rookies, no current stars) i decided to stop. well, i did get one good card...a david robinson silhouette patch auto #/10.
got home, was even more depressed because when i did a search on the bay for finished auctions, most of the similar cards (silhouette patch auto) didn't seem to finish very high, and none of robinson. there was one that was sitting in the buy it now section for what i thought was pretty ridiculous ($999). then did a search on the bay to see what similar cards of robinson from 2012 were going for...about $75-$100 for patch auto limited quantity.
so trying to make the most of what i thought was a bad break, put it up on the bay with what i thought was a quick turn around price of $100...snapped up in minutes.
a little less than a month later...that same card just sold for $700.
congrats to the guy who turned a $600 profit, but kicking myself for being that stupid. i mean i've jumped the gun before and sold things a "little too cheap" but never for $600 less than what i thought it was worth.
lesson learned...(well not really, but thought it was a "funny" story)
