Morning everyone, hope it's the start of a great weekend! Last night I grabbed my fourth ten-pack mini box of Fleer Retro on my way home from work, and when I got in I found a FedEx box in my doorway, containing a free box of Panini Certified that I won from Panini on Twitter the other night. They definitely ship quickly, haha. Anyway, first up are the results of the freebie box...
Ended up being a hot box, all the base cards have the shimmering rainbow background, so I have a bunch of hot box base cards if anyone's working on that set.
Joe Sakic Mirror Hot Box Immortals #18/75
Nik Antropov Mirror Blue #26/99
Philippe Cornet Freshman Signatures Mirror Hot Box Redemption
Logan Couture Fabric of the Game #236/299
Brenden Dillon Mirror Blue Freshman Signatures #18/99
Cody Almond Certified Signatures
Tomas Vokoun Goalie Pulls (a little damage, but not sure I'll be sending it in.)
Kesler/Mitchell Path to the Cup #178/399
The last card is another redemption, Redemption Rookie #3, player R6. Who knows what that'll end up being. Hopefully not something terrible.
Anyway, for a free box, I'm hardly going to complain. Thanks to Panini for the contest and the prize.
On to my fourth, and likely last, box of Fleer Retro. Not that I dislike the stuff, it's nice and all, but some of the autographs are brutal, as seen in the photo below, haha.
Mikko Koivu E-X 2001
Dominik Hasek and Jonathan Quick Metal Universe
Flair Showcase Hot Shots - Ilya Kovalchuk
1994-95 Ultra Theoren Fleury & Shane Doan
1992-93 Ultra Taylor Hall
1993-94 Ultra Taylor Hall & Alex Pietrangelo
Flair Showcase Jeff Skinner & Wayne Gretzky
Flair Showcase Legacy Collection Chris Kreider
Autographics 1999 Dustin Byfuglien & Patrick Wiercioch
Autographics 1996-97 Brendan Mikkelson
Not terrible, but nothing to write home about, and absolutely not worth the price of what buying another box would cost me. In one of my boxes I hit an Ovi for my PC, and I picked up the only two Neely cards in the set, so I can't complain, but I don't see much need in buying any more of this stuff. The price of the box will land me one of every Bruins auto that I need at this point. Everything's available from both boxes, the only PC cards that this break landed me were the Marchand and Bergeron hot box versions of the base cards in Certified.
Cheers everyone, thanks for looking, and I hope the Bruins ruin Toronto this weekend!
