Registry Guide?
Does anyone know if there are plans to put out Registry how-to docs. There seem to be a lot of things to do and utilize, but I'm not sure how to, or more importantly... WHY? Like, what's a base vs. master set registry? What's a Repository? What are the benefits of each? What are these contests? Why enter? Where in the world is Carmen San Diego, etc.

RE: Registry Guide?
The how to's-- well if I have time maybe I'll screen print some stuff if you need it . Ask away,,, "when" I have time I'll screen print no promises I share this computer with the wife and she wants it after this post Sad

BASE= regular issued base items by major card manufacturers
MASTER= includes all basic items PLUS serial numbered inserts, special issues, food issues, miscellaneous produced, and related items such as stamps, postcards, etc

A base registry will not allow for unique 1/1 items, miscellaneous produced stuff such as say Highland Mint items or 7-11 Discs.

A master registry will allow entry for any item found including unique 1/1 produced.

A repository is a place to just set cards while doing quick entry. You can then go in and place them in a registry after they are all entered quickly. The repository is only needed if your not uploading direct from a grading order.

The contests they will have will include uploads ( just entering all your slab numbers in an attempt to upload as many as possible).

Another contest will be having set registry people compete to complete a specific set at the highest percentage level. One that a lot of graded items can be submitted for and that has a lot of hobby participation.

Contests are just fun stuff to do. You also may learn new people who collect your set you can contact and those people can become hobby buddies who help you out in your own collecting goals, or teach you more about your set(s), or basically pave the path for people to become a more well rounded collector.

I expect the first contest to be a feeding frenzy--nothign like freebie grading to winners , or marketplace credit, etc, etc, etc they used to give.

Jeff

p.s. Carmen San Diego is in hiding- follow the clues to find her Smile

RE: Registry Guide?
Hi Jeff, since you are kind enough to offer I'll ask a question because I have followed the other screen shots and just can't get something to work. First let me tell you what I've done. I've set up several individual player registries some basic some master...no problems here.

I created 2 custom registries, one called Football HOF Rookie Cards that is self explanatory and I had no problem setting it up and adding all the cards...all of which were in their individual player registries; I wondered if you could have in more than one and you can.

My question: the other day I got a new RC for Emmitt Smith and added it to his player registry but can't seem to get it added to the custom registry. I know when I set this up I had to add players first and then attach them to the registry. I can't seem to add any more cards, I don't know if it's because I checked to make you able to compete or not but once you do that you can't change it....any ideas?

RE: Registry Guide?
What's going on with the serial numbers bringing up the wrong cards? No answer from multiple emails sent last week..
The problem cards are all BVG graded.
Is this a system error that is being worked on?
Thanks.

Yes that is a system error that hasn't been properly fixed yet.

DMASCI-- When I have time later tonite I will test what your post is saying,,,,, if I am able to do it myself I'll screen print large shots as a how to.

Custom registries-- you cannot modify them once you have chosen the items. Hit "compete" and forget it its out there for competition.

Jeff, I'm able to enter the newer BVG's, just not the older BVG's.

Also, do your Registries have to be public in order to win the contests? And is there a contest based on each specific player OR just by each sport?
