1996-97 Topps Mystery Finest Borderd Refractors question
So they made some 1996-97 Topps Mystery Finest Bordered refractors. Some say super team on them and some don't. I always thought the ones without super team were worth more, but beckett does not list a seperate super team refractor only a base super team. Any help on this would be great.

you are right the ones that do not have the super team logo on them are pack inserted and are worth much more. The super team logo cards came in sets that were won via redemption. If I remeber correctly Beckett's old magazines woould price the super team refractors at .20% of the regular value...for example

Topps Mystery Finest Bordered Refractor Pippen BV $25 (not sure on real BV just an example)
Topps Mystery Finest Super Team Refractor $5

I did a little research last night on sold auctions and it seems BGS gives the same description to the card whether it was a Super team or non super team. A BGS 9.5 Jordan will say the same on the gold name plate for a BGS 9.5 with the super team as it does without. No clarifier that distinguishes the two.

Also an ungrade super team sells for about the same as an ungraded non super team. Don't know on graded because there are none currently available, that I could find, to compare.

RE: 1996-97 Topps Mystery Finest Borderd Refractors question
The reason why they go for about the same is that people are confused which is which. The Super Teams were part of redemptions and are much more readily available so they should be worth less. All you had to do to get the NBA Finals (Bordered Refractor with Super Team Logo) was get the Chicago Bulls or San Antionio Spurs Super Team card (odds 1:36 with two possibilities so 1:540 packs for the Jordan). While the Mystery Finest Bordered Refractors were (1:66 so 1:1452 packs for the Jordan) I attached the link to the Beckett set information below.

Here are the two cards graded by Beckett...

You posted 2 different cards the base and the refractor. That is not a true comparison. The super teams refractor gets listed by beckett on there bgs cards exactly the same as the non super teams version. You may also be correct about the odds and value, but at least with the Jordan people seem to be paying about the same for them. I put the blame on Beckett for not listing them seperately in the price guide. If one has a higher BV than the other, then it should be listed seperately. I also have no other way to list them in my org as well.

Don't know what iirc is, but obviously beckett considers it a refractor or they would not have put it inside of a slabbed case and labeled it as a refractor.

RE: 1996-97 Topps Mystery Finest Borderd Refractors question
The superteam bordered refractors work out to be roughly half (40-55%) of the regular (packed) mystery finest bordered refractors). This according to the beckett annual. Obviously i can't give out prices here (against TOS), but the percentage is a rough calculation based on the jordan card you have shown.

Collect Patrick Ewing, Jalen Rose, Kevin Garnett, LaMarcus Aldridge, Jeff Green

if you have less than 25 trades, I will ask you to send first.

So I am paying for an OPG and it does not have all the same information as the magazine? What kind of BS is that Beckett?

Oh and how am I supposed to list them in my org for trade. There is only one option for the mystery finest bordered refractor?

RE: 1996-97 Topps Mystery Finest Borderd Refractors question
briankort - that picture you posted is a mistake from Beckett unfortunately, like I said there is a ton of confusion around these cards. PSA seems to get it wrong even more often than Beckett from what I've noticed. The Super Team NBA Finals is the "Bordered Refractor with logo" the picture I posted does have the refractor finish although it's hard to see. The base is the Super Team Division Champions and the Borderless is the Super Team Conference Champions.

Here are the links to those two sets...the set descriptions of these and the links I gave above do a pretty good job of explaining everything that I am not doing a good job explaining. Hopefully this clears things up.

http://www.beckett.com/basketball/1996-9...n-winners/
http://www.beckett.com/basketball/1996-9...e-winners/

By the way, I'm not sure what you mean by the OPG doesn't have all of the same information, it does. I think it has even more information based on the links I provided. Now what really should be corrected are the pictures of the OPG but that's an entirely new conversation.
