1 Box Of 2008 Tristar Projections New York Prospects
Hello everybody. What I'm about to say may shock many of you but, I'm really a Yankees fan.
And because I'm a Yanks fan I decided to bust open a box of what I consider a Godsend, a box of 2008 Tristar Projections New York Prospects Edition (I think that's the title).

Each box comes with 5 packs (7 cards in each pack) and comes with a garaunteed autograph.
I spent 22 bucks on this box which might be a little high but IMO it's worth it considering that it's licensed merchandise, got a garaunteed auto inside (just wait 'till you see the one I got) and every card in the set is a New York Yankees prospect. That concept alone gets an A from me. Throw in the fact there's a possibility of getting a Betances auto or base card and I'll improve that grade to a A+++.

Because the product is 4 years old I couldn't recognize most of the names I pulled (seeing as they were Yankees prospects a majority of them probably don't even play for the organization anymore), so here are some of the ones I did recognize.

Betances FTW!

Dear Cashman, rather than waste time and money on Napoli or Martin, how about you platoon these two next year? Just a thought.

Please come back, we miss you.

The only insert set appears to be some sort of foil variation that the box calls "refectives" and there was one per pack.

And now for the auto.

BOOM!
Former top Yankees prospect, Jesus Montero. For obvious reasons I couldn't enjoy this auto as much as I would've back in 2011 as even though I was stoked at getting a player I knew about, a feeling of sadness followed as I realised that he's no longer with us and we've got a fat guy who drives drunk now instead.
Still I could've done a whole lot worse than Montero and wish him the best in his many years to come in Seattle.

So my final grade for this product is an A+. The cards have a simple design, the product doesn't go insert crazy and Betances is in the checklist. Only negative for me would be that you'd have to buy nearly a dozen boxes to complete the base set, but I'm probably not going to do that so... yeah, it' a great product. Especially for a Yankees fan.

On a side-note, Montero's card is no. 53 and Betances' card is no. 54 so I now have back to back autos from this set.

(Yes, this was a lame attempt at showing off hehe).

Have a nice day Smile.

The only problem I see with these cards is they all have Yankee's on them. just kidding, not bad.

^Haha thanks.

I actually bought a 2nd box today and I ended up getting a whole bunch of dupes. But I did get some notables as well as an auto.

Brett Gardner, one of the three players in this set that play for the big league club
Andrew Brackman, the Killer B who's no longer with us
Alan Horne, a guy I know about because he was in the 2011 Topps Heritage Minors set

My auto in my 2nd box was this.

Ryan Pope

TBH I've never heard of this guy but judging from how he's one of the four guys featured on the box I'd say he's one of the better autos I could've gotten. From what I've gathered he was on the Yankees' 40 man roster for a little while in 2011 but got DFA'd and still plays in the minors as a bullpen arm.

So in the two boxes I bought I got autos of two of the four guys on the box-art. I guess that's pretty good. I might pick up some more in the future to see if I can pull something like another Betances auto or a Cervelli auto.

Thanks. I got these at a card shop in Shibuya (a.k.a. the heart of Tokyo) but there are a handful available on eBay if you're really interested in getting one.
