Blockbuster trade: Blue Jays - Red Sox

Blockbuster trade: Blue Jays - Red Sox
The Toronto Blue Jays traded manager John Farrell to the Red Sox for infielder Mike Aviles

Now that is something we hardly see happening anymore, trading a player for a Manager, must be the 1890's again. LOL

Yeah, this is the first manager for player trade I've ever heard of.

That's interesting. -Kind of surprised the Jays would let him go. The way things are panning out for the Yanks and Sox, it would seem like the Jays have a great chance to make a run next year. -Of course, there's plenty of competition with the Orioles and Rays.

Or theyre thinking, he wont last that long in Boston, I mean, it is Boston. then a year later. You rehire him and get a relatively good player. for basically one year without the manager.

I think his contract was up in Toronto after the 2013 season anyway, if I'm remembering correctly. Maybe they didn't get a good vibe that he would stay and wanted to try and get something for him while they still could.
