My 1000 Card Club
Checking my ORG and I now have 27 players that I have at least 1000 different cards of, surpassing that mark this week with Todd Helton (who leapfrogged over recently added Roberto Alomar). These are just cards listed in Beckett, for example I have over 50 Mantle cards that are not listed in the Beckett database. Anyone else have a 1000 Card Club?

Edited to update numbers.

Ken Griffey Jr. (2650)
Alex Rodriguez (2526)
Barry Bonds (2184)
Greg Maddux (1917)
Derek Jeter (1774)
Frank Thomas (1738)
Roger Clemens (1661)
Cal Ripken Jr. (1650)
Mike Piazza (1631)
Chipper Jones (1611)
Manny Ramirez (1586)
Jeff Bagwell (1546)
Nomar Garciaparra (1509)
Mark McGwire (1496)
Randy Johnson (1476)
Sammy Sosa (1466)
Vladimir Guerrero (1407)
Tony Gwynn (1393)
Ivan Rodriguez (1262)
Mickey Mantle (1257)
Nolan Ryan (1240)
Pedro Martinez (1230)
Albert Pujols (1206)
Ichiro Suzuki (1080)
Juan Gonzalez (1057)
Todd Helton (1008)
Roberto Alomar (1003)

I collect Hall of Fame baseball player cards and cards of current and retired superstars.

RE: My 1000 Card Club
I have over 40,000 cards total. I'll have to look to see if I have 1000 of a player. Too much of a cheapskate to buy Organize Big Grin

I collect Dirk Hayhurst.

How the heck do you go about collecting that many players? Very impressive.

Collecting vintage Phila A's and past, present, and future Phillies.

RE: My 1000 Card Club
I collect Hall of Famers and potential Hall of Famers. Most of the non-HOF players on that list had potential before the steroid scandal. Plus I started collecting in 1970 so I had a good headstart on a lot of the folks on these boards.

I collect Hall of Fame baseball player cards and cards of current and retired superstars.

That and a photographic memory helps.

I have 35,000+ cards, and I knew without even looking that I did not have 1,000 of any one player. Once I checked, I saw that my two largest HOF player collections (Jordan and Sandberg) do not even total 1,000 cards combined!

I look for career Chicago Bears, Blackhawks, Bulls, Cubs, Fire, Red Stars, and Sky players in their respective Halls of Fame. Add to that list some personal favorite lifers from past and present rosters, and everything else in my collection is up for trade.
