Okay here we go. It is awards time. Your thoughts?
Well, with less than 2 weeks left in the regular season I thought I would start a thread to see who everyone thinks will win the awards. MVP, ROY, Cy Young, etc. It's always fun to guess and then see who the BBWAA chooses in their official votes. So lets get it started.
My choices are:
AL
MVP: Miguel Cabrera, Detroit (I think it's a lock, although Jeter could get some votes);
ROY: Mike Trout, LA Angels (absolute lock and any other year besides his rookie year probably would've won MVP);
Cy Young: David Price or Jered Weaver;
Manager: Bob Melvin, Oakland or Buck Showalter, Baltimore
NL
MVP: Buster Posey or Andrew McCutchen;
ROY: Bryce Harper (pretty big lock, although Todd Frazier will get some votes);
Cy Young: This is tough...R.A. Dickey is having perhaps his best year ever, possibly Matt Cain or Cole Hamels;
Manager: Dusty Baker, Cincy
What are your thoughts?

Now the only award I find interesting is AL cy young (because I collect chris sale) LOL. Now I find it surprising that I've been hearing Jered Weaver and Verlander and Felix... top 2 contenders are price and sale hands down. If you go by stats, price should win. If you really look deep and see that sale has made the bigger impact this year... then he should win. But I think Price is deserving too.

I think if "value" includes a guy's salary, Sale would win hands down. In that sense, there's no better return on the dollar. However, if you're looking only at performance, I think Verlander beats Sale in virtually every significant category. Here are Verlander's stats (with Sale's in brackets):
ERA 2.74 (2.82) Starts 31 (27) CG 6(1) SHO 1(0) IP 223.1(181.2) SO 223 (181) WHIP 1.06 (1.08) WAR 7(6).
I'm not trying to take anything away from Sale, but I don't see how he could conceivably come out ahead of Verlander. -And I'm not even saying Verlander is going to be the Cy Young winner. I think the following players will split significant numbers of votes: Price, Verlander, Fernando Rodney, Sale, F. Hernandez.
Always looking for Verlander, Cabrera, Maybin, Mike Stanton (marlins), and Avisail Garcia.
