Yeah they appear to have gone back to a design that's not to dissimilar to their original 2009 set and the 2010 set. Now if only I could get a complete It appears as though the full set is available for viewing over at the MLB cafe (an MLB themed restaurant/bar in Tokyo) and I really wish I had a transporter. At least I know that there's going to be foil's again this year. ![]() ![]() Man, imagine going for a bite and sitting next to a display full of baseball cards... ![]() ![]() Dellin Betances & Francisco Cervelli Collector |

RE: Topps & Sega Card Gen: Kenny's Collection
Found an interesting pic of early Sega Card Gen prototypes that weren't released to the public. They're Upper Deck cards all right lol.
![]() Also found some cool articles dating back to 2009 saying how this was indeed intended for a US release but scrapped. Oddly enough it seems like the gaming community knew more about this game than the baseball card community. I also tried turning my first post into a F.A.Q., hope it helps. ![]() ![]() Dellin Betances & Francisco Cervelli Collector |

I'm confused. If you only get one card per game, how do you start off as a new player? Do you field a team with just one player?

Ziveus101 This is pretty awesome, had a good long read, you gotta find those 2 cards you need. it will never let go if you forget them.

Short answer, yes you could potentially start off with just one player. The game will automatically fill the positions you don't have cards for with fictional players such as Buenos Diaz, Walter Bottles and Mott Kasinski. Long answer, if you're playing the game for the first time ever, chances are you're going to be using the one card you got before the game began. If you were able to get any CG cards before the game you can use them so long as you don't exceed the value point limit. Occasionally some stores carry "sample cards," or 1/2 star level players to help you get off your feet. Luckily for me I discovered these as singles at a card shop before I found the game so I always had Mr. November onboard all of my teams. I took a step backwards though since I traded Konerko a few weeks ago (I regret nothing as I got some vintage Yanks in exchange), luckily I've got a friend in Tokyo who picked one up for me. And boy has the ordeal with the last two Nats been maddening. Like I could've gotten a Gio once at this store in Shibuya but the store employee (who gave me a lot of info about this game and was also Red Sox fan) said that some guy came into the store a few hours before I did and scooped up all of the Nats they had, including Gio. Arrrgh! As for Clippard I think I read somethinig about someone having him before on another message board, might have to create an account there... ![]() ![]() Dellin Betances & Francisco Cervelli Collector |

RE: Topps & Sega Card Gen: Kenny's Collection
I wish you luck in completing that, you brought to light a couple cards that I wouldn't have known existed, found me some of them, and remembered me when you found the other!

^Haha, ain't that the truth. The MLB cafe also had a pic on Twitter where they were saying that they had the entire set on display but made it so the camera wouldn't focus on the display, only on the tables.
In other news... SEGA CARD GEN 2013 IS LIVE!!!!! THE BACKS ARE PURPLE!!!!! MY CAPS LOCK IS BROKEN!!!!!! ![]() The base set this year has 390 cards. The foil set this year has 60 cards. No info yet on the EX cards yet. ![]() ![]() Dellin Betances & Francisco Cervelli Collector |
