Question about a couple of Ripken cards

Question about a couple of Ripken cards
A while back, when my dad was working at a restaurant, he knew many ball players that would come in. He got me many autos from Keith Hernandez, Don Zimmer, Edgardo Alfonso, Jim Leyritz, and some others. I don't quite recall him getting any from Ripken but I do have a couple of them lying around. I searched the bay just to see if there were any like this because I wasn't sure if the autos were real or facsimile auto....probably stupid of me not to be able to tell...but anyways now that I think they're real autos, what should I do? Should I send them in to get authenticated and if so, how do I go about that? Would they be worth anything? Here are scans of them. Thanks.

RE: Question about a couple of Ripken cards
Get them authenticated. I believe Beckett and some other companies do this for a fee. If they turn out to be real, it will be well worth it. If not, you will have peace of mind.

I appreciate Chicago players that begin competing within the city's sports organizations and stay with these teams throughout their careers.

Get them authenticated if you want to resell them, but if you plan on keeping them then don't worry about it and just enjoy them.

RE: Question about a couple of Ripken cards
jsa does it

however, even with authentication, you are looking at a sell value of...*does quick research*

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cal-Ripken-Jr-Au...25744d2c70 $28

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cal-Ripken-Jr-Or...19d44b0e4b $35

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1985-DONRUSS-14-...33796977da $50

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Cal-Ripken-Jr-si...41691d6135 $22

so range is 22-50, average of about 30. id say the one of the right wouldnt sell for more than 22 since the auto is strong, the one on the left for about 30

I dont know if it would be worth the cost getting authenticated and encased. You may only net $10 if you sell it.

Those are real authentic autos, so if you want to just keep them I dont think you need to send them in. Id just enjoy them the way they are Wink

I like me so much too! I'd trade both to you if you want but I honestly don't know what value to put on them. If I can't get much in trade for them, I'll just hold on to them. I like the topps finest one myself actually.
