If he stays healthy than they got him for a bargin. Like or hate him he is the best player in the league and a proven regular season and playoff performer (and OlympicsSmile )

By signing him the Pens will be the only NHL team to ever sell Crosby NHL merchandise. No other team will be able to cash in on Crosbys huge marketing money. Sure Reebok can produce his stuff but no other NHL team will ever sell a NHL jersey, T shirt, hat, bumper sticker poster etc without cashing in on it. They will make their money back from the contract 10 fold on his merchanise sales. Very smart move.

This brought to mind something I've been hearing repeatedly this past week leading up to free agency.....

Even Gretzky got traded.

Then went to the Blues.

Then to the Rangers.

I'm just sayin'...

RE: CROSBY!!!
As an Islanders fan, I don't really like long term deals as the 2 we signed, (Yashin & DiPietro), have been absolute disasters we're STILL paying for today! Then again, we seem to be the only team whose long term deals have backfired big time.

RE: CROSBY!!!
Yes but it is on the Pens terms now same as the Oilers with Gretzky.

He is locked up in a long term reasonable contract that should be easy to move if they decide to.

Ha. Yeah. Hurts to be an Islanders fan. However, I would think the Hossa deal wasn't worth it. True he's still playing, but at what level. Not what he's worth.

RE: CROSBY!!!
I would be leary of Malkin, does well in the regular season but when the playoffs come around hes a goner. Gotta love Crosby and his obsession of 87 though lol.
