checkoutmycards.com COMC - Experience?

RE: checkoutmycards.com COMC - Experience?
I've noticed those type of listings too . . . either the seller's math is bad or is just willing to take a loss rather than have the card shipped back without recovering any cost. They could be applying a loss leader strategy for exposure as you mentioned, but I'm not sure how much, if at all, it would actually drive up sales of other higher priced cards. Not bad for the buyer of .20 cards if they're not complete junk.

Well, so far so good. Cards have been listed with prices for just over 24 hours now and am up to just over $50. The thing that amazes me is the cards that have been purchased. I was somewhat surprised how quickly a few have gone and they are not rare cards or THAT great of a price, but a fair deal regardless. Some of the people sending offers are, well, interesting..........

RE: checkoutmycards.com COMC - Experience?
I sent COMC all of my most valuable cards in early August thinking I could basically use the site to trade and have fun. Seems like a great deal. Only thing is, my cards never arrived and I didn't have insurance on them. I lost my entire box of childhood memories in the mail last month, so I implore you to buy insurance when sending your collections with USPS. I'm completely up the creek. I've contacted USPS several times and escalated it as high as it can go, no luck. I've contacted COMC but all they can do is keep an eye out for it. So unfortunately, although avoidable and my fault, that was MY experience with COMC.

RE: checkoutmycards.com COMC - Experience?
I've been using COMC for the past year and here are some of my impressions.

COMC vs eBay
Way less work to sell on COMC and in terms of time, materials, and postage, less expensive.
Combined shipping through COMC reduces bulk purchases significantly.
Browsing cards in COMC is MUCH more effective than ebay. COMC filters are great.
Front & Back photos for ALL cards on COMC.
Personally I like that once a COMC transaction is executed, it's done w/ no additional communication required.
COMC has taken all the subjectivity out of the process resulting in a standardized service level each and every time.

As a side benefit, I believe COMC's integration with Beckett OPG is also requiring Beckett to improve OPG.

eBay's big advantage is its participating market size and the variety of cards offered. COMC has a way to go here but still a great option that should continue to grow. I still buy on eBay frequently.

To date, I've sold over $1600 in cards not vital to my collecting goals, that otherwise would have sat on a shelf until I could muster the will and time to post some of them on eBay.
