Baylor came out with some promotional "Heisman" cards for RGIII before last season began. A Busting Packs follower won one of the cards from some contest and sent it to me as a gift. These cards were only sent to Heisman voters and media folks and were not intended to be sold or re-distributed. Right around Heisman time (early December) I saw the same card on eBay and bid on it.
It sold for over $100 bucks. Back in April I saw another copy of the card up on eBay and won it for only $26. As soon as I got it in the mail, though, I realized it was an obvious counterfeit.
I wrote an article http://www.bustingpacks.com/fun-stuff/co...promo-card about it in which I performed an autopsy http://www.bustingpacks.com/wp-content/u...IT_RG3.jpg of the card to illustrate the reasons I know it is counterfeit. I contacted the seller and he agreed to refund me the money if I sent him the card. He said he had bought it from someone else but I couldn't find any in his history. He also told me he didn't have anymore copies. I did, however, find that he sold another copy of this card in December for $100.
I sent him the card and waited. He said he never got it. I gave him the DC number and Signature confirmation number. He said it was being held at a Post Office 30 minutes away and would have to pick it up the next day. After that he stopped responding.
Apparently I don't know eBay rules, because once I FINALLY decided to create the claim against this guy (I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt--to a fault) I realized this bastard had dragged me along for 46 days. In order to file a claim, though, you must do it within 45 days of the purchase. So I was/am screwed.
He has since sold another counterfeit copy http://www.ebay.com/itm/Robert-Griffin-I...524wt_1165 for over $62.51 and I assume he will continue taking advantage of people. Just thought I'd share my story and put this guy's name in lights:

HAPPY ENDING
So I am out the $30 I put into it, but karma had my back. Someone from Baylor noticed my blog post and emailed me. He told me the entire story behind the set of cards, confirmed the one I had purchased was counterfeit, and then sent me a COMPLETE SET of the six cards. Received them on Friday, scanning them today...I am a very happy Baylor collector today
