RE: Michael Jordan ASSOCIATION
Patrick Ewing was actually his rival in college too, so its 80s and 90s for him. Another name to consider is Larry Jordan, his older brother, a person MJ looked up to growing up and is the reason he picked #23 because it was half of his number 45 (rounded up).

RE: Michael Jordan ASSOCIATION
If it is just a person linked to Jordan, I'd say a lesser known person would be Craig Ehlo. Forever liked for "The Shot".

RE: Michael Jordan ASSOCIATION
clifton herring (high school coach who "cut him")
leroy smith (high school friend who got on the team which "cut him")
jerry krause (the bulls GM who pissed him off)
george gervin (who iced him from his first all star game)
isiah thomas (who also iced him from his first all star game)

because they are the guys that made MJ the player he was...for better or for worse...although i'm sure that he would have been pretty darned good without those incentives.
