For me I was and always be a sports fan/watcher weather its any of the 4 major sports. I mostly started out collecting baseball around 1988 till the mid 90's, then when shaq came into leaque collected from then on till aprox 2005. In 2009 restarted collecting bkball. Not sure when I collected fb or hockey more likely early 90's but lost interest later on and also took many breaks from collecting. I still collect most/all sports even though now I sorta been trading more on the hockey side, trying to really only collect bkball but for me its hard as I love collecting and watching all sports. Some will say I'm a hoarder others a collector I say I'm doing it for the fun of the sport. I always loved watching mj fly, shaq dunk and bird hit the three from way down town. So as to not have this as a long read ie one of jason's post jk I'll end now and love to hear why/what makes you like bkball more than other sports out there. ps jason where have you been.

For me, it's because I can follow it and not get bored. Don't get me wrong - I can follow NFL/Gridiron easily enough (it's a simplified version of Rugby league with a s***load of padding and five times as many players per team), but because it is simplified - I get bored easily. That and the stops and starts all the time. Baseball never had my interest and i see NHL as a glorified excuse for a brawl. Plus, when I started collecting basketball it was the only American sport on FTA TV. We had soccer being broadcast (Eurosoccer) but again, i find that as boring as baseball.

For me it boils down to my prefernce as a kid. When I was a kid I played football and basketball. I would play baseball with friends, but prefered basketball for one simple reason. If I was bored I could go outside and shoot hoops alone. I didnt need someone to go outside with me. With football and baseball, it is really hard to play catch alone haha! Besides strength and agility training, I didnt understand how I could improve my football skills alone. I couldnt really go outside alone as a kid and practice my tackling or my catching (I played tight end and linebacker). So I focused on basketball because no matter what I could always play and practice my basketball skills.

lol. Just messing. I agree a lot with Nick. It's a game I could play without needing to have anyone else there. Baseball - Throw the ball up in the air, hit it..............walk and get the ball, rinse and repeat. Football - Only threw for distance, that was it. Hockey - Played street hockey once and would occasionally hit a puck from the middle of the street into my driveway fence, but got boring quite quick. Basketball - I'd work on drills, do trick shots, there was always pick up games, it was fun.

In my situation, it is the connection with the sport of basketball. I grew up with basketball. PBA and NBA is my favorite basketball organizations. I also like NCAA and Olympics basketball. It is just in my blood and I am loving it!

Basketball is a game that is fun to play and very exciting to watch. And for some reasons, the NBA had some of the best nickname in the world.

In Kentucky where I grew up there was a basketball goal at every house and played everyday with my friends, so it was a natural choice. Growing up in the 90s was a great era for basketball cards too with all of the foil based inserts, refractors and on-card autos. None of this sticker auto crap from an italian sticker company.
