RE: model of efficiency!
Don't look at the order, look at the time stamps. It arrived in Bellport, dispatched from Bellport to Melville, sorted at Melville and dispatched to its destination. Nothing wrong there.
Just to add another note, departure scans are all done at the same time (why it looks out of whack) and are not manually done as usually the mail is either in a sack or a wire container and can't be scanned while arrival scans are done manually and thus usually down to the correct time.

Don't get me wrong, I know we make mistakes from time to time and mail ends up in the wrong location but this particular piece is actually being done correctly and moved along even if the scans don't line up.

RE: model of efficiency!
with alot of the PO's closing, this is the result. Here in maryland my brother in law lives in western MD in Cumberland. There used to be a sorting facility in Hancock which is 10 miles away. Well they closed the one in Hancock. So if you mail something from Cumberland to Hancock it comes all the way to Frederick, which is a 2 hour drive or 120 miles away from either city, then it goes BACk to Hancock to be delivered. It takes it almost a week to get something delivered 10 miles from its original destination

RE: model of efficiency!
the part I can't figure out is why does it get sorted and sent to another sorting facility and the sent back to the original sort facility only to get sent to a new sort facility and sit here for 9 days? ....

Are you shipping Bubble Mailers or PWEs?

First class packages and First class letters take entirely different paths to get to their destination. One is sorted at one location and the other is sorted at another location, however, they both arrive at the original sorting facility together. That could be the problem you're running into, they're arriving at the first being sent to the second to be sorted and back to the original to be dispatched.

It's alot cheaper for the post office to send your package on a 15 minute drive from one facility to the other and back, then it is to send two seperate trucks on a multiple hour trip across country.

As far as sitting at a facility for 9 days, there's alot that could happen but it's mostly incompetence on our part. I apologize!

RE: model of efficiency!
Looks alot like how my cards look when I send them out. We use to have our sorting facility in Sioux City, Iowa, which is only about 20 minutes away. Now they go to Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Which, depending on how you are driving is 45 Minutes for speeders or 1 1/2 hours driving the speed limit. Sometimes I swear it looks like it will never leave Sioux Falls. Kind of bounces around there for hours on end.
