I would keep them aslomg as they are in the uni eventually everyone will be gone retired or what have you.Thats alot of moving cards just to keep your team with only active players

Team collector question?????

I have a ton of Jacobs too and I'm keeping mine. Like many have stated - its about the Uni.
NY Giants and HOF/legend/superstar collector.
I'm going to go against the wind.....sell them and get more Eli.....can never go wrong with multiples of Eli.
If you smoke in your home, please don't trade me. (03-09-2012, 06:59 PM)giantfan270 Wrote: Brandon Jacobs was released today. When someone leaves your team, do you sell his cards or keep them? I have a ton of Jacobs stuff, not sure what to do right now........My loyalty lies with the team. I would keep them. No difference than a player retiring. Would you sell your Peyton Mannings since he's no longer a Colt? (03-09-2012, 08:13 PM)giantfan270 Wrote: Why not sell em and put the money into rookies or Eli's? That's what I was thinking. I probably have 4 to $500 worth of Jacobs alone.I always wondered this myself and I think I would probably do what your saying here. It really depends how much I liked the player or if I just collected them because they were on my team. I know I wouldn't get rid of any of my gore stuff if he played elsewhere but my stuff of Taylor mays and possibly Anthony Dixon if he goes somewhere is definitely up for grabs. You could just also keep some stuff and get rid of others.
Keep em.
One of the Jets forums I went to said the Jets might be interested in him. If he joined, I would only get his 2012 cards, at that point he's a Jet. If he left in 2013, I would stop. For me it's the uni, I have at least 1 card of every Jet whoever got one. And I have an auto of every Jet who ever got one produced. You make a hole in your collection if you're a team collector and you dump Brandon Jacobs. Would you dump your Phil Simms, Lawrence Taylor cards with the same thought? 2012 Beckett "Super Collector"
My opinion is team collecting is about collecting cards of players in the team uni and in most circumstances college player cards that your team drafted.
I think it's about memorizing the past and the past teams. In 20 years you can go back and have your collection of the 2011 Giants!! However, as a team collector I do not think it is against team collecting rules to liquidate one team player for another. But if you had a choice, I would keep them for sure.
My Main PC Objectives
1) Redskins Base RC Autos (Non Letters) - 164/281 2) Redskins Base RC Autos (Letters) - 13/76 3) RG3 Base RCs - 24/33 4) Devin Thomas 5) Joe Theismann Autos (skins only) - 16
I wouldn't dump them, but once a player changes uniforms, i don't usually collect them anymore.
