1996 Box, but which one?
Ok guys, Im looking to spend about $50 on box of 1996-97 basketball, what would everyone recommend? I would really like to get one with true rookie cards of the 1996 draft class, Kobe, AI, Allen, Nash and nice inserts.
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

I am not sure any boxes from 96-97 go that low...pretty much everyone is after the Kobe RCs and rare Jordan inserts...
You may be able to find a Hoops box for that or a retail box..
If you go the retail route, I would go with Skybox or Ultra..

ya id say the only options are fleer & coll choice...then retail for some of the others as arod stated. Most of those hobby boxes go for way too much because of the parallels and jordan inserts.

You can pick up topps retail for about $40 a box. I picked up two at that price and pulled a total of 5 Kobe RCs.
I collect Michael Jordan, Mitch Richmond, and Ohio State players (football and basketball) in OSU gear. I strongly prefer 90's-era cards and use newer cards primarily for trade bait!

I think you can get a box of 1996-97 SPX on the bay for about $50-$70.
Good set, rookies and still hot inserts.
SCRATCH THAT:
Seen they jumped recently to about $150 a box.
They USED to go for about $50-$70 about a couple years back.

The first two years of SPx were 1996 and 1997, they were released towards the end of their respective seasons and thus don't have any true RCs.
the '96 boxes can be had for about $60-$70 but that was before Kobe's time anyway.

Meh, it came out mid-through the rookie year, just like alot of cards that are still considered rookies. (stats reported on back of card were up to all star game I believe)
