Can this really be true? Manny Ramirez wants to possibly play for the Blue Jays???

Here's my two cents.

The first cent; I am a diehard Blue Jays fan, but when I hear of a big name free agent linked to the Jays, I don't pay too much attention. Far too often big name free agents bypass Toronto.

There were two rumours in late 2011; the Blue Jays were the frontrunner for the rights to negotiate with Yu Darvish, and Prince Fielder was interested in playing for the Jays. As you all know, Texas came out on top in regards to Darvish, and the Tigers paid over 200 million g's for Fielder. Yet again I was let down.

The second cent; Ramirez would have to serve a 50-game suspension for violating Major League Baseball's drug policy for the second time, and I'm not sure Blue Jays fans would want the hanging over the club's head.

Jose Bautista is doing an admirable job in Toronto, and although he claims to have been tested for drugs sixteen times in the past two years, his tests come back negative and he keeps putting up big numbers unlike any Blue Jays fans have seen and have been dying for.

What does everyone else have to say? If Ramirez does wind up in Toronto, do you think Jays fans will embrace him, or will they just "put up with him" for the duration of his contract??? (Toronto is a notoriously difficult city to play in when it comes to sports due to constant criticism and high expectations from the fans and media alike.)

This would have been major news in 2001 but I think the general consensus is, everyone is over Manny.

His PED induced production has deteriorated completely.

The Jays have excellent young talent in Lawrie and Rasmus to look forward to.

I think Manny is a great player. I am not happy about his life choices though. No matter what team he ends up playing for,fans will chear him on. That man swings a big bat. He may have to prove himself but i'm sure fans will go nuts!

Bring him on! I would love to see him playing ball again. They should work something out in his contract where he doesn't start getting paid till the suspension is over and on top of that make it production incentive based salary. That would make it a win win for the Jays. May draw a few more fans too just to see what kind of antics he will be involved in.

Yep he signed with the Oakland As minor league team for one year ! Crazy, at least he still gets paid.
