New Collector... Singles, Packs, or Boxes?
#11

RE: New Collector... Singles, Packs, or Boxes?
See your other thread on my response to your question about the difference between Wal-Mart/Target/K-Mart cards vs. Hobby cards.

And yes, avoid doing any major financial damage for card collecting. Card collecting is one of the most volatile markets out there. Why? Because the players can get injured and that can really change the value. Case in point, Grant Hill and Tracy McGrady. They were regarded as two people who could be as good as Michael Jordan (well, that's what I heard). Many injuries later, they're more role players than anything now and the last few years of their careers have been flatlined. They can be productive, but nowhere near where they used to be. So please don't go too heavy on the funds. That's one reason why people go after HOF and retired players, they're much less likely to lose value due to injury (but what they do in their personal lives can affect value as well).
