OT: Visiting Las Vegas
Best bet on a cheap place to stay is to find it online. You should be able to get cheap rooms there. When my wife and I were there we saw Blue Man Group. It was pretty expensive, but so worth it. It was great fun. Something else you should see that wasn't there when we were is the Criss Angel show. That should be awesome. Other than that we just chilled and gambled. We went to "the biggest buffet in the world". I think it is at the Rio or something. Have fun.

Don't take gf who likes to shop to Vegas, their clothing is expensive down there... I did find some good deals though. If it is your 1st time gambling, learn before you go, by playing the games you know how to play vs playing games one has no clue on. Craps is super fun.
I hear the Wynn buffet is nice, but pricey so build an appetite and the golf course view. I am going to do their buffet next time, never built an appetite for the buffet. The Paris buffet is nice, and reasonable. Get there early due to lines. A nice show is the Anthony Cool hypnotist show, with the nice little risque show afterwards...at the Paris. No way you won't have a good time down there. All they need now in an inland ocean or lake of some sort to be perfect.

SDMF Wrote:Weimer Wrote:Here's a random question for you guys that have been to Vegas. Am I better off going through one of the travel sites like Orbitz, Expedia, Priceline to get my tickets and hotel together? Or should I make the hotel reservation on the hotels site and buy the tickets separate? I just checked it out.... picked out a 2 day weekend in August at random.... Circus Circus with round trip flight... $299. Thats not bad. I might have to look into that sometime. |

I can't use lasvegas.com to book a flight and hotel because Minneapolis airport isn't on the list of airports to choose from. Lame.

Definitely avoid the Excalibur and Tropicana buffets.
The Harrah's buffet is the best in Vegas. I've seen the Mac King magic show and enjoyed it, but it is aimed at a younger crowd, so expect a lot of kids. I'd also recommend Penn & Teller. Definitely visit the half price ticket places. |

There might be an airport within a couple hours drive that you could use. You will save hundreds of dollars. LasVegas.com is having an extra $90 off sale when you complete your purchase right now. Not sure how longs that lasts though. |

OT: Visiting Las Vegas
Was just there a few weeks ago.
Mystere was awesome, well worth the experience. To me, Love was good, but very expensive. Lots of the older people were rocking out to it. You could see the glow on their faces as they relived their youth through the music. At the time, it seemed like TI had the best rates, a good casino and good food. If you're into splurging & spending some cash, I would recommend eating at one of the nicer restaurants in town. We ate at Onda (Mirage), The Steak House (TI) and Joe's ?? (Cesar's shopping center) and it was amazing. Of course, there are a zillion more awesome places to eat. Also, the Ferrari dealership/showroom at Palazzo or Wynn (can't remember which one but they're next to each other) was awesome and only $10 bucks to enter. The other hotel will have a Lamborghini (sp?) dealership/showroom later this year. Walking through the Venetian was cool. Vegas.com is heavily promoted in So Cal and if you're willing to spend some time searching online you can find some good room rates. After wearing out my feet, we learned that for $2 or $3 you can catch the Deuce (double decker bus) and it will take you up an down the strip for $2 or $3 for one 24 hour period. Of course, we found out on day 4 of 4 and I was already in pain. Have fun and if you're new to gambling go somewhere w/ really low table limits like O'Sheas. |

Visiting Vegas?
My piece of advice would be to stay away from Javon Walker. He doesn't seem to have good luck there:badgrin: Seems he doesn't learn his lesson. |
