This one was tough to track down. I still have a few friends who really want this as well so if you have one that looks exactly like this please let me know and we can work out a deal. I am down to 10 left so I can use any and all the help I can get. My needs list is after the scans.

It is card # 40 out of 77 cards in the set. It's not a situation where only 77 of the card were made.

The Promo is alot tougher to get as the Silbver ones were not intended to be released and they gave out the 10,000 Gold Promos. I have heard there are less than 500 of the silver Promos made. I know 8 people looking for this card I have and 2 who own it myself and another guy. If you look in my buckett I have all 4 of these types of cards with the 2 Promo and 2 that came out of the set.

There is none that I know of I believe they made only 2 which was the steel and the steel gold.
Here is what I read on a site.

Although prepared & first displayed Tuesday June 26, 1996 at the
Donruss Corporate booth at the 1996 Anaheim National (NSCC)
Convention, Pinnacle opted to distribute ONLY the "GOLD" Promos
(GOLD's then and now .. have always been quite hard to find, and in
high demand!) through their distributors & brokers network (to
dealers) on Friday August 2, 1996 .. retaining the "SILVER" Promos for
internal use only (& possibly only for Pinnacle execs, a secret
"little detail" not known until years later!) .

Until very recently, just a couple examples of these SILVER Promos
managed to find their way into the hobby .. and thus, not only was the
general public unaware of the existance of these SILVER Promos, they
also were never catalogued in any sportscard price guide.

Why didn't Pinnacle release BOTH sets, which would NOW be the typical
thing to do? Some background is in order .. Pinnacle had just
acquired Donruss/Leaf in late-1995, and was operating Donruss separate
from Pinnacle operations. Donruss traditionally created promo card
sets with twelve cards or less, while Pinnacle was on the cutting edge
trying all kinds of new promotional methods & products, never before
tested in the sportscard hobby. So when Pinnacle launched one of
their brand new test products .. Leaf Preferred (a one year product,
with six card packs retailing for $3.49) . As Pinnacle aimed for a
brand new quality image, the "GOLD" STEEL promos were selected for the
promotional splash, with an unprecented 77 different promo card set!
Talk about creating a BIG hobby buzz .. and .. HUGE promo card chase!

I have the silver and gold Gwynn promos... I am not sure about Bronze. I know they didn't even do Bronze in the regular set, but I wouldn't put it past them to try it out in their promos. I think I have seen one other (McGwire?) besides this from a Clemens collector:

Wow what a read, thanks for all the info. I have a couple of the steel cards myself, no promo sticker so they must be part of the set. I always wondered about these cards.
