need an explanation

Could someone explain to me why 90's finest refractors are worth more without the protective cover than with it? To me I thought it would be the opposite

Isn't there a chance of the film "sticking" over time?

are you supposed to take those off of the cards? i was gonna ask that. i heard they ruin the cards over time.
MAINLY COLLECTING KANSAS CITY CHIEFS PLAYERS new updated bucket 12/16 
There were 2 versions of the refractors inserted into packs. The protected and the "No Protector" the non protected has a refractive back as well and was inserted at lower odds.
