box break question. should i get one or not
I am thinking about picking but a box of gold standard later. My question is is it worth it or are most of them bad.

Most of them suck, it's just a more expensive Plates and Patches. I've seen a few decent breaks, but overall pretty lame.

I love me some Certified, but there seems to be more redemptions this year, almost seems like there is an average of one per box.
Chrome and Finest are really nice this year, lots of parallels to figure out though, and almost no veteran/retired autos in Chrome.
Gridiron Gear and Sterling just came out too.
What ever you do, don't be fooled by the packaging on Topps Legends, it is horrible to break.
If it was me, I would much rather break Sterling packs than Gold Standard. The Gold Standard cards all look great in person The auto's are in a silver sharpie on black backgrounds for rc's which look awesome, but you might hit Todman, Bilal Powell or Delone Cater for your 1 "big" hit. I think for 200 goons you could have a lot more cardboard to be (possibly) disappointed over if you grab stinkers, or hit some nice rc stuff.
Like most Topps, Sterling is rookie heavy, Gold is a tiny bit closer to being balanced between rc/vet/retired guys.

The gold standard I have seen suck big time plus for the price you can buy 2 boxes of certified.

The only thing is you get about the same amount of hit in gold as certified. I broke a few already but nothing to big. That's why I'm asking.

You get about te same amount of hits but gold standard is twice as much. They both have a potential for a big hit but I'd personally rather pay 200 for 2 boxes of certified and take my chances with it than I would with 1 gold standard. I've just seen to many gold standard boxes where as Gonzo said your big hit was Delone Carter or Jordan Todman. I have seen a few gold standard boxes that were nice but all in all most were horrific especially for that price. Sterling isn't a bad choice but it looks like topps decided to put 200 variations of the same player in there and as usual it's more rookie based, which IMO isn't a good thing with this years weak rookie class. I guess I like certified because it's got rookies if you want that it's got veterans if that's your thing and it's got a nice mix of retired / HOF type players in the fotg and immortals subsets.

Personally i love the gold standards, buts its gonna be hard to hit a guy you would want. If your looking for a particular guy you would be better off going with bowman sterling, which btw have some awesome cards and have a great shot of hitting some of the nicer ones like a pulsar refractor.
Gold standards though, the ones that are hot, are selling and trading for a pretty penny. Been watching them buggers to see what kinda murray stuff shows up and and they are still selling high with him injured but are scarce. To date there are only 16 listings of him in gold standard and 65 listing of him in the bowman sterling.
PC: Dez Bryant, Felix Jones, Demarco Murray.
