1. No. But PSA does not need to make a pristine category for a 'select' few cards to create an inflated market. I like they 10 system for Gem Mint. Collector's pay crazy amount for a Beckett card because a grader felt like handing out a 10 one day to a card to see what it will sell for on ebay. You know there is virtually no difference between many 9.5 & 10 Beckett cards.
2. That is your opinion on the slabs. PSA came along first and their status is pretty much legendary at this point.
