red sox have adrian locked for years at 1st, papi at dh most probably for 2 more years (i think they are going to re-sign him). red sox have a very good thirdbaseman coming up, which may mean youk goes to dh after papi retires. and the red sox just laid out to large long term contracts...dont think theyll go for a third, even with about 30 million coming off the books this year

the cubs are gonna be a possibility. dodgers and mets wont be in it due to money issues. angels might in it.

i agree, the cubs were my first thought to...but really the CUBS? would the Cards actually allow Pujols to sign with there biggest rival? That would mean hed be in the same divison and they would face him what 20 or so times a year...Now that would be a very intriguing situation if that some how transpired..That would be like Jeter going to the Red Sox...

I bet Pujols is not lookin forward to the end of season, let the speculation n rumors start very soon...the first question he'll be asked after they either get eliminated or win will be about his contract and future in st louis no doubt...

I don't see Pujols going to the Cubs. Even though he wants big bucks, he wants to go to a team that will contend. The Cubs pitching staff is nothing close to good and the supporting cast on offense wouldn't give Pujols much protection. The number of teams that match the scenario for contender and can afford him equates to probably 3-4 clubs. I would see Pujols taking less $ from the Cardinals before going to a cellar dweller.

The Royals huh? that may be the fan in you wishing, or im missing somethin lol...they have the lowest payroll in baseball like around 35million...Pujols currently made more then like their whole infield combined this year......not likely IMO but who knows really

one: "Edit guys"? are we twelve years old? and who is that supposed to be?
two: who is "dbag"?
three: yes, there is a comparison between lowell and pujols, and if you had the reading comprehnsion of the level of maturity in your post, you would get what i was saying. (and comparisons can be made for anything. like you, and albert einstein. sure, there's a vast difference between the two, but i could make the comparison to show how that gap of intelligence relates to an example)

i agree, i dont believe pujols is all about the money like the other guys you mentioned. But if he was really offered 200+million and partial ownership of the Cards why wouldnt the Cards give him a no trade clause? i mean if your offering a guy some part in owning the franchise, obviously you would want him to be a Card for the rest of his career..If the partial ownership offer is really true, then the Cards obviously want Pujols to never wear another uniform so the trade clause issue really shouldnt be an issue id think...just my opinion though...

regardless of player, contracts should be based mostly on future productivity, and not past accomplishments, bc the future are what your gunna be paying for....Pujols just may be at the end of his prime...if history tells us anything, as guys get into their 30s there stats start declining...

I know. The fan in me. They do have their rookies under control for the next 4-6 years, and adding 22-27 mil per year would only push the payroll to the upper 50's or lower 60's. Doable, especially with the fan turnout, marketing and jersey sales.

I hope he stays in St. Louis for the sake of the franchise but I could see the Yankees doing something sneaky like putting him at 3rd and moving ARod to DH. God, I hope that doesn't happen.

I'd like to think that Pujols would like to stay a Cardinal and be on St. Louis' Mt. Rushmore next to Stan Musial. Personally, I think he's already there.
