Chris,

You really need to get on the case of MLB Properties, and ask them why they are choosing to allow one company to monopolize the market. This is a big story.

Point out that two companies have already gone out of business since this decision and card collectors are left with few choices.

Tell them about the complaints collectors have had with Topps, from the Gypsy Queen and Topps Chrome this year, the damaged Bowman Platinum cards, the damaged Bowman and Topps products last year, etc.

Ask them how they feel about all of the people who have lost their jobs since they can no longer produce cards like Prestige, Playoff, Leaf, Prime Cuts, the various Upper Deck and Fleer products and all the rest.

Find out what their reasoning is.

Big story.

Thanks a lot.

I personally like Panini. They make great football products & I believed they forced Topps to step up their FB game this year. So, if Panini can do good things with an MLBPA liscence then maybe Topps will turn it up a notch. Either way I like the idea of other baseball products on the shelf.

If you noriced; most agreements with MLB are "Monopolies"; so which should baseball cards be any different? The MLBPA is looking for as much money as they can to promote their players and their funds so they do not need to be contstrained the same way.

So; this makes perfect sense on both sides. MLB gets their monopoly and the players get more money. This is actually a simple agreement. And the reason this can be done; is unlike the other sports; these two entities can do this thus we have these sets.
