J.J., you don't lean slightly more in favor of any of these 3:

1) Randomize the 30 current winners and run a head-to-head playoff; OR,

2) Let reigning Kings of the Hill browse a gallery of those strongest late entries already in-thread and, if necessary, surrender their crown before running the playoffs; OR,

3) Allow each of the 30 reigning Kings to defend his crown against all challengers (only cards that haven't already been considered) in a 1-day-of-entries, 1-day-of-voting lightning round before running the head-to-head playoffs.

What about potential problems with any of these?

yeah, so i havent been following much on this because of how fast and big this thread got, but having it narrowed down to 30 cards where i get to pick some sweet cards, im up for. I just dont think i'll be sorting through the 133 pages though. start a new thread or repost the 30 winners?

how about you break them down by conference, much like the actual playoffs? maybe based on the finishing order from last year's standings, do rounds, etc. ? but use all the teams, as opposed to just the ones that qualified for the playoffs.

Can you spell out for me how that would work, because it would be ideal. We'd:

1) see more sick cards;
2) make sure that each team is represented by the consensus winner with an expanded field, giving those who missed the first run through a chance to be seen; and,
3) base seedings on something other than a randomizer.

If this doesn't work, I'm leaning Lightning Round anyway and just seed teams based on last year's NHL standings per warsawknuckles' idea.
