I guess that would make Kershaw's 3X as deceiving as Lincecum's... since he plays for a team that only has 2 bats and the world's greatest manager. Lincecum has received one run or fewer in almost half of his starts. He also received 2.8 runs per game while Kershaw received 4.4. If Lincecum received that many runs of support he would be up there in the Cy Young talk It's hard to win games when your team doesn't score runs for you. W-L is one of the most deceiving and over valued stats in baseball IMO. You can't base the effectiveness of a pitcher on their W-L record. For all you sabermetric people out there Lincecum bWAR in 2011 - 4.4 Kershaw bWAR in 2011 - 6.9 Lincecum Career avg. bWAR - 4.64 Kershaw Career avg. bWAR - 4.2 As a Giants fan, i do think Kershaw was the better pitcher this year. He lead the league in Wins, Ks and ERA. A pitching Triple Crown But overall, i'd say Lincecum. He has the accolades, although i do believe Kershaw deserves the Cy Young this year. ![]() I collect Brandon Belt, Pablo Sandoval, Matt Cain and Gary Brown! |

The greatest young pitcher, I think there are a lot more options than these two. Price, Hellickson, Gio González, King Félix, Buchholz, Cueto, Cain, Bumgarner, just to name a few.

Those stats are kind of amazing considering that LA really does have about 2 bats while SF has 4 or 5. Maybe bigg time timmy jim isn't liked by his teamies ? |

This team offensively was wretched. Besides Pablo, there was no production from anyone in else in the lineup besides Schierholtz who ended up getting hurt, and then Beltran came and he got hurt. It was a crazy season for the Giants, and it more than likely mentally wore on the pitchers, thinking they basically had to throw a no hitter in order to win a game. And it wasnt just Timmy, this team scored for no one, it was pretty bad this year. ![]() I collect Brandon Belt, Pablo Sandoval, Matt Cain and Gary Brown! |

RE: Lincecum or Kershaw? or who is the best young MLB pitcher
THis is a great question!
Im going to have to go with kershaw because he is younger, taller, stronger and probably has a better work ethic. I do like Tim's personality, he has a ring and 2 Cy awards. As for other young pitchers there I dont feel anyone else has proven to be on their level other than Felix. Stras and that young kid for the Os have great potential but still need to produce before they get into the conversation. Heres a new question-Will Lincecum reach the illustrious 300W mark? |

Also a giant's fan here (and a Timmy fan of course) But I say there is no way in hell that he reaches 300 simply because I believe there isn't ever going to be another 300W pitcher in baseball. The game has changed. The only active pitcher that even has a chance currently is Halladay and he still needs another 112 wins and I don't see it likely. If he pitches till he is 40 he will need to average 18+ wins a season. |

RE: Lincecum or Kershaw? or who is the best young MLB pitcher
Right now it looks like Kershaw is the best of the young guys then Felix then Lincecum. If Strasburg pitches a full season this year and can pitch like what we saw before his injury he can possibly leapfrog some or all of those guys.
Also I don't expect Lincecum to be able to get to 300. I do think guys can still get to that number but it takes a long career from a durable player and with his size i don't think he'll be around pitching at 40. http://www.comc.com/Users/jayohhessaych |

Texas Rangers fan here and I say Yu Darvish. But out of Kershaw & Lincy, I say Kershaw, for no other reason but that he's a Christian.
