RE: VERY OT - need tech help
made some progress. after about 100 more attempts it showed up again. i am back to the DOS screen titled "ADVANCED BOOT OPTIONS"
this is exactly what the page says: Choose advanced options for: Windows Setup Safe Mode [already tried- failed] Safe Mode with networking Safe Mode with Command Prompt Enable Boot Logging Enable Low Resolution video (640x480) Last know good configuration (advanced) [already tried - no luck] directory services restore mode Debugging mode disable automatic restart on system failure disable driver signature enforcement start windows normally [when i scroll over an option it gives a brief description of what each one is} (08-10-2011, 10:56 PM)magneto2 Wrote: Is this a dell computer?its a toshiba

you don't need to reformat it, because all the stuff you had on your hard drive is still there, the problem is, the hard drive is not receiving instructions from the mother board ( electrical problem ).
The only solution is to replace the hard drive, and make the Hard drive that is in it now, the slave drive instead of the master ( basically 2 drives in your system ), How old is this computer?
If he is only having progress by booting off the disk then their probably is trouble in the hard drive.
I still think reformatting it will solve your problem. |
