Rasmus to Toronto!

RE: Rasmus to Toronto!
I just read the story and I'm starting to not be so upset about it. Tallet was on the DL, PJ Walters just got called up and blew a game the other day, and Trevor Miller has had a horrible season so far. The cards got some veteran relievers, Patterson who has had a slight resurgence, and of course E. Jackson who is decent but is starting for a bad team (3.5 ERA & 100+ Ks is okay with me)....plus the Cards got $ which could help toward re-signing Pujols. So what if Jackson is a FA next year, Wainwright will be back anyway and he won't even be needed. Looks like they filled a couple holes and made some extra money all without getting rid of anything important.

Collecting:
Hockey: Any T.J. Oshie & Jake Allen - also Various Blues Relics/Autos
Baseball: Various St. Louis Cardinals

It also will allow you to move McCellan (sp?) back to the bullpen.

He and Tony La just didn't see eye to eye on his role with the team. They needed pitching help and that's what they traded for.

I agree that Rasmus is better but I just don't think you can say that this was a dumb move by the Cards when you could see this coming from a mile away.

Moving him because of the situation was not a dumb move... Moving him for Jackson was a dumb move. Jackson is decent at best and will likely only decline. Rasmus could be a great player if he develops a little more discipline at the plate.
I just believe they could have received more for him.

RE: Rasmus to Toronto!
Good moves for the Jays in my opinion. Getting Teahen and Rasmus. And to answer the question above about Toronto selling, why would they. They have some good young talent and could be toward the top of the AL East in a couple of years if those players can get better and live up to their potential.

Collect anything Hockey and Baseball. My current PC's include Phil Coke, Koji Uehara, Scott Baker, Shaun Marcum, Josh Beckett, and Jamie Doornbosch.

RE: Rasmus to Toronto!
I like the fact that Jay will get the CF job now and I was lobbying for Rasmus to get traded, but this is a bad trade in my opinion. I heard that Mo turned down an offer from the Rays for Niemann, Howell, and a prospect. That trade I could have gotten behind.

Interested in EX-MT or better pre-'56 Cardinals, '53 Bowman Color & '74-'78 Topps.

I like Jay too! The Rays trade would have been better I think as well.... But there would have been young tallent there and we know how TLR feels about that...Smile

RE: Rasmus to Toronto!
Rasmus had to go. His dad is constantly telling Colby what he should and should not do. Colby quit listening to Cardinals coaches. Colby needs to grow up and realize he is NOT the one who makes the decisions regarding his playing time or where he bats in the order. Colby also needs to tell his meddling father that he is a big boy and to butt out.

As for the trade, Allen Craig will be coming off the DL soon and provides a power bat off the bench. He can also spell one of the regulars in the OF should the need arise. The three pitchers the Cards got rid of were mostly ineffective this season. The players the Cardinals got in return will allow McClellan to move back to the bullpen. McClellan is essentially a lefty specialist or a long man out of the pen. Jackson helps the rotation now. Dotel has closer experience should Salas falter and Marc Rzepczynski will be an improvement over either Tallet or Miller.

The potential upside is greater for Toronto but with Rasmus a problem in the clubhouse I like the move for the current year.

I build sets, collect Lou Brock & Jeremy Maclin. Both of my sons went to Kirkwood HS with Jeremy. I will also look at Kurt Warner, Big Ben and Old Big Red Auto's.

Carpenter is gone at the end of the year. The Cardinals can release Wainwright at the end of the season also. I am willing to bet they trade Freese next year about this time to make room for Zack Cox. Tony does need to go any player that disagrees with him is gone. Rasmus, Rolen, Edmonds, Brian Jordan, etc

Looking for Cardinal Autos, Kaleb Cowart, Sweet Spot Autos
