Derek Jeter's 3,000 hit was a homerun

RE: Derek Jeter's 3,000 hit was a homerun
I would say he will end up with 3400-3500 hits for his career....it might not be all with the yankees but thats where he will end up. Jeter is a great player and well deserving of this 3000th hit club. He has been the heart and soul of the yankees since 1996. Im glad to see him hit a homerun for 3000th it was almost to perfect. Not only did he hit a homerun...it was his 2 hit of the day...his number was 2...and he hit it at exactly 2pm..... thats crazy
Looking for Highend Pujols/Chipper/Longo

Also looking for a new sweet banner, i will provide all the pictures just need someone to put together a sweet one !

Let look at stats we will go with average since his on had one good year you say. I have put the years where he batted over .300 and I count 4 years where he batted over .333 which is one hit in every 3 at bats but those were average years from what your saying.
1996 .314
1998 .324
1999 .349
2000 .339
2001 .311
2003 .324
2005 .309
2006 .344
2007 .322
2008 .300
2009 .334

what team is going to sign him in 2013 at the age of 39 (turning 40 in the season)

this is his last contract, believe that
Cal Ripken played till he was 40. They could put him as a DH. I have heard rumors of them moving him to the outfield as well. I am agreeing with you as he dose not have many years left but I am thinking from the standpoint that people pay to see Jeter play and he could play longer if the Yankees take him. I honestly don't think he will play for another team. In 2 years if the Yankees don't give him another contract he will retire at around 3,400 hits. If they give him another year as I am thinking he will get to the 3,500 hits mark.

I think your right about how many hits although I think it will be with the Yankees. They will tell Posada to move over for Jeter as DH when he can no longer play SS. As for his 3000 congrats Jeter and there was no better way of making list!!

without a doubt, he is very rod carew-ish . nothing wrong with that. but let's look at OPS, shall we?

.669
.800
.775
.864
.989
.896
.858
.794
.844
.823
.839
.900
.840
.771
.871
.710
.649
career: .832

so while his batting average is .312, 9th among active players (86th all-time), his OPS is 50th among active players, 236th all-time

very good player. hall of famer. but overhyped

RE: Derek Jeter's 3,000 hit was a homerun
let's put this in perspective:

jeter, by some accounts, hasnt been the best shortstop on his own team (the arod thing). however, you can make an argument that jeter is a top 3 SS over the last decade, and few would argue that (they might argue it defensively, but thats for another time)

Marinano Rivera is to closers what Jesus is to Christians. I never feared Jeter. Mariano made me have bleeping nightmares. Rivera, quite simply, is not only the preminent closer of his time - and it isnt close. and you might argue - i would - that he is the best of all time. and he essentially did it with one pitch.

some say jeter is the heart and soul of the team. id argue that might be true for the fanbase, but the heart and soul of the team itself is, and has beenmariano

i cant wait until he retires. :p

and ill say this: as a die hard red sox fan, i love mariano rivera. love him. class act, can take a joke (his reaction to the standing ovation at fenway opening day 2005), doesnt look for the limelight, no theatrics (im looking at you, joba and paps). wish he didnt wear pinstripes. he's the anti-papelbon

What point are you trying to make? Did I miss it somewhere earlier in the thread?
