Use protection!

Use protection!
..... for your cards.

How does everyone protect their cards. Least valuable ---- > most valuable.

My commons are in a 5-row box, up to $10 go in sheets in binders, $10+ go in toploaders, then of course the graded cards are slabbed.

I don't really use one-touches or screw downs, although I am thinking about getting some. Just trying to see what everyone else does and what the pros/cons are of each.

Thanks!

RE: Use protection!
all base RC's and inserts in new penny sleeves, SP over $10 or numbered less than 100 in penny sleeves and top loaders, RC's over $10 in new penny sleeves and top loaders ..... over $40 goes into "one touch" holders Smile

all jerseys and mem under $50, penny sleeves and top loaders ..... all over "one touch" cases Smile

same with autos, but we use $40 as our barometer there Wink

I look at it this way ..... the more time and $$$ I put into preserving our PC today, the less I'll regret my transgressions of old Wink

I'm a freak of nature. All of my Seahawks are in at least a top loader. Yes, that includes base cards. I made it so I only have one of each base card now but yeah, everything in a top loader.

I also use magnetic holders but only if I don't have a suitable top loader for the card.

My sets vary. Most are either in binders or in a box. For the 2008 Topps Mayo minis, I actually bought special tobacco card pages for them. My 2007 Topps DPP Class Marks auto set are all in Magnetic holders. The ones in boxes are all penny sleeved.

I sleeve/topload anything #'ed /999 or less. If I feel it necessary, it'll make it's way to a screwdown/magnetic.

RE: Use protection!
I know I'm the only one that does this because I have asked about it before I put all cards $2.00 and up in sleeves and loaders. Between $1.00 & $2.00 just P Sleeves and then monster boxes. Under that just boxes. Luckily toploaders at my lcs are only $1.50 for 25 it seems everyone else here pays twice that.

I penny-sleeve pretty much anything except plain base (from new stuff). When I started collecting again, I was obsessed with one-touch / screwdowns, but when I realized how much money I was blowing on them, I went toploaders/teambags.

This make's me want to draft-up my own thread.

Penny sleeve, PROPERLY sized top loader lol, and team bags for most. Some of my pc stuff is in one touch magnetics, only because they were shipped to me that way.
I don't get space in the house to display my cards except for my kids' nameplates so everything is in a few monster boxes.
They are kept in an ancient wooden roll top desk, with about six silica pouches for each to absorb excess moisture.

Base cards, inserts, RCs, parallels and refractors in a box in their proper sets. Not sleeved, not top loaded. A few higher end in sleeves, but nothing of that sort in top loaders because it's all going to be traded anywa.

GUd and autos are all in penny sleeves. Some higher end GUd and autos are in top loaders. A couple are in 1-screw screwdowns. Can't use team bags because they don't fit.

Only use team bags to ship or for small sets (like insert sets where there's 10-20 cards, etc.)

My Texas Rangers (PC) are in alphabetical order. I have 1 of each in my main box. No dups. Star players (Kinsler, Young, Hamilton, Greer, Gonzalez, I. A. Rodriguez, Ryan, etc.) in penny sleeves. GUd and autos in top loads. All of my duplicates are in a box not sleeved nor top loaded. I have those in alphabetical and just 1 of each card of those. Any dups (triples and beyond) are in yet another box. Got all my Topps team sets in pages (with traded sets). All other team sets and duplicate Topps team sets are in team bags.

Few Cowboys autos and GUd in 1-screw. Don't use magnetics. All my Cowboys singles (inserts, base, RCs, refractors) are in top loaders. All of my dups are in another box not sleeved or anything. Just like Rangers, I have 1 box with no dups. Another box with dups (although not more than any 1 card) and trips and any more of same card in yet another box.
