Why not add a box for:
Items Wanted

When you trade:

Traded Away takes the record, Updates the inventory, Adds a Comment, and adds the record to Recently Traded

Trade for makes a NEW record with a #1 in the haves column, Adds a Comment, and adds the record to Recently Traded AND the original collection duplicating the record.

You then have to hunt down the original records and delete them. If you don't you can get a duplicate in trade using the old record. This Sunday afternoon I spent my time looking for 296 such records.

These are far more important than some of the things I think you might have been working on.
