yea but modern BV is skewed some in sets... my FotG sets half the cards are less than /25 so they are not priced due to rarity.. so my SET BV IMO is like 4 what beckett sez.. older sets EVERY card has a BV... easy to add..

Good cards to keep on the look out for at lcs $2 dollar box. I know I wouldn't know to look for it unless I knew about them. May get lucky finding a few here and there if someone doesn't know what they have. Was this the only year for them?

I guess great minds think alike.

To answer other questions, the link in my thread talks of the history of the 1977 Topps Mexican set.
It's a one year experiment by Topps, which flopped, bad collation in the 2 or 4 cards pack. Some packs had the same two cards. The two pack cards also had a piece of flavored gum, I guess the humidity in Mexico made the juice come out, so one card could be stained on the front from the gum, the second card damaged on the back by the wax of the wrapper. A premium is obviously paid for a non stained and non waxed marked card. I am lucky to have managed that, but I have to accept poor centering etc, some rounded corners and the Rich Sowells has dirt marks on the top right corner.

It is a near impossible set to put together, I did just my Jets teamset which I completed yeterday after 7 years.
One of the 18 cards (Rich Sowells) appears to be from a corner card on the printed sheet that also appears to have suffered either bad printing or damage. The common belief is those cards were disposed of / destroyed before pack collation. The hardest 12 to find are known as the dirty dozen, in the Jets 18 cards (17 players and a checklist) there are acknowledged to be 6 SP's that book $100+, the BV's have risen since I started collecting the teamset.
The cards I think were imported back into the U.S. in the 1980's, there are no remaining unopened cases, I believe almost if not all 4 packs have been opened as the 2nd & 3rd card were typically in the best condition, no effect from the wax, so they were the most in demand packs.
The only way that the SP's designation would change now is if cases of 4 card packs were magically discovered in the back of a store / warehouse in Mexico and if they had a bad collation and 100 Rich Sowells were found, I'd get a excellent near mint card and it's value would probably drop from $200+ to $20.

As the cards were imported and sold thru a few dealers, it is unlikely that your local LCS would have them, especially in a $2 bargain box, the LCS owner probably not even know of the existence of this set.

Hope that helps, and here is my 1977 Topps Mexican teamset, you can see the Rich Sowells is in the poorest condition.
