RE: "trade for" value after a trade

I think that would work to keep it in all the original collections and just get it out of Recently Traded. That's exactly what I do. I have a folder called My Trades With.... and for each trade I make, I add a collection called "thebwd" or whatever to that folder and move the cards from recently traded to that collection. Then I tag cards received into their permanent collections and eliminate the duplicates. When I get the cards in the mail, I can check against this collection (since if the sender deleted the cards from their collection, the trade page will no longer show them) and finally delete the collection. The ones I traded away stay in their original collection with the trade away value properly adjusted, and I'm done. If I've traded away my last copy of a card and want to eliminate that card from my organizer, I still have to move it to Trash and empty Trash, but I don't usually worry about that. This seems to work for me, but I've made trades involving hundreds of cards (I'm a set builder) and it can be an hour or more of work for a large trade *which* *was* *totally* *unnecessary* *in* *the* *old* *system!!!* (as mentioned above). Building sets, and collecting Ovechkin, Varlamov, Neuvirth, Calle Johansson and Craig Laughlin... and now Marcus Johansson

I agree, though, that the "Remove from folder" option should be a priority. I forgot about the tags. I don't have them showing b/c if something is in more than 1 coll., you can't see the actual card description. (EDIT- I see that they fixed that now. That helps a lot.) The other way will NOT work. If you send a card to trash, it removes it from every folder it is in. You will see every folder that card is in turn orange for a few seconds. Always looking for: Ozzie Smith/Stan Musial/Lou Brock/STL Cardinals, NFL-CAR/GB/NE and NASCAR-Jimmie Johnson/Mark Martin

(EDIT- I see that they fixed that now. That helps a lot.) You can delete a collection without sending cards to the trash through the "Manage Collections" link at the bottom. This just removes the collection while leaving the cards in whatever other collections they were already in. As another poster mentioned, however, you have to be careful with cards that are ONLY in the collection you are deleting, because then they are only accessible through the (unsortable) "All Items" collection. OK, I gotcha now. I hadn't done it like that before. I had several 'Trade with so&so' collections before the site switch and afterwards, I just moved the cards to where they should be and then deleted that folder (collection). Thanks for helping so much! I would still like to see the 'remove from...' selection come back though. I trade a lot of set duplicates, so it would be nice to check a dozen or so cards each week and just remove them from Recently Traded. Thanks for helping so much! If you delete a collection and if any of the cards in that collection only appear in that collection you will not delete them from all items. They will remain there as a kind of orphan (Phantom Card) the problem is even though you cant see them outside of all items they are still active and someone can access them to make a trade even though you have already traded for or away the card. There was some mention previously that they were going to provide a system category like "Uncategorized" that could show these orphaned cards. That would be a great solution to this, but I don't know if it is going to happen or when. Collecting Smoltz, Teixeira, Chipper, plus other Braves and Georgia Tech stars |
