$10.00 Shipping? That's just making a couple of extra bucks on the card. UPS for a pound or so is just 7.95 I think. I just sent a trade out weighing 4.20 oz. with DC# and insurance for $5.15. No wonder I stopped buying on the bay.

Yes, some really are unreasonable shipping costs...
But, I do not think that would stop me from buying on eBay, just have to be vigilant about shipping, condition and feedback scores.
I have some great deals from eBay and some great sellers..

I wanted a Willie Mays card on peebay and sent a question to the seller asking if he could reduce the shipping. I live in Cincinnti and he showed shipping from Columbus Ohio. The shipping asked for was $4.99. He procedes in his return to tell me the cost of penny sleeve, top loader, tape, packing, and envelope to put card in. I really wanted card and won auction. I received card 7 working days after winning bid. The card was in used envelope, used penny sleeve, used top loader and no packing. After sending a very cordial message, I gave him a "Neutral" with explanation and he returned my message, with "why". What a bone head. I don't like to give negitives, but in this case, I should have.

They've got to make amfew extra buck somewhere! Also, it's nice when they charge a lot for shipping and the card is stuck in a standard envelope with a .42c stamp...

Ditto.

Figure out what you want to pay in total.

Subtract whatever the seller is charging for shipping.

= your max bid.

From the buyer's perspective, the total that he/she pays is the same, regardless of whether it's $20 with free shipping, $10 with $10 shipping or $18 with $2 shipping. And now that Ebay is charging all fees on total (price + S/H), there's no reason for a buyer to care what the breakdown is.

I admit, I have charged $10 shipping before...but only when the person ordered 3 metric tons of sand with their card.

yeah after a couple times, and getting yelled at in all caps back about shipping cost on items...I finally gave up and stopped even asking usually it goes something like

DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH IT COSTS IN GAS FOR ME TO DRIVE ACROSS TOWN TO THE POST OFFICE? AND ALSO I HAVE TO GO TO THE POST OFFICE BY THE PIGGLY WIGGLY BECAUSE THE OTHER ONE AIN'T OPEN TILL 5PM. AND I CAN'T WEIGHT ALL MY PACKAGES AND TELL YOU HOW MUCH IT WILL BE IT AIN'T WORTH MY TIME. AND I GOTS TO BUY TAPE, AND I NEED TO DO THIS AND I NEED TO DO THAT, SO INSTEAD I CHARGE A FLAT RATE OF $12 TO SHIP OUT A BALL CARD! BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT IT COSTS ME FOR ALL MY TIME I HAVE TO SPEND! I stirred that up, haha! Man don't let her get under your skin. Some people do it to try to save fees and still get their total value out of a card. Its dirty but it happens.

I meant I got you thinking about it by asking about the trader. I assume your referring to her and her $10 shipping you told me about.
