Yeah. A lot of those inserts seem like test subjects for what would become the current base cards these days.

I collect: Jeff Bagwell, and have Biggio, Berkman, Oswalt, Billy Wagner, some Pence and Clemens to trade for his cards

He's another one of those guys where the BV of some of his 90's inserts are no where close to being accurate. I posted an auction I saw a couple months back, 1998 Donruss Crusade Red Will Clark numbered to 25 went for over $1000!!!! I mean, would a 2011 Topps Chrome Red Refractor Jeter get $1000?
I had lost of that stuff in my collection, which I traded away to the lot of you regulars here. Some is still sitting down there in boxes, but since I wiped my Org, it's gonna be along time before I go through it all again. I've got 6 monster boxes (5 rows) with stuff from 1998. I should post a pic of my 'card wall'
There are so many niche insert sets from the 90's, no matter it was the downfall, I loved the mid-nineties for collecting. 40 or so different card releases a year, something new every week.
Anyways if you have any Will Clark or Mark Grace stuff from then check me!
I have some Clark and Grace. I sent you a TO w/ comment.

Always looking for: Ozzie Smith/Stan Musial/Lou Brock/STL Cardinals, NFL-CAR/GB/NE and NASCAR-Jimmie Johnson/Mark Martin

Here's more proof that Puckett isn't exactly 2nd tier:

Take a look at what the other plates this seller auctioned ended for as comparison. For example:

Yeah, I can't explain it, and Puckett's appeal may not be nationwide, but his collector base is large and rabbid and in turn, his card values are top tier, comparable to anyone in his generation.

I loved the 90s inserts too. I always admired the creativity that went into the cards. Now it seems like all the inserts look the same every year.
