They did that for the safety of the traders.

You can't possibly be serious with that comment. Safety of the traders??? It's the outlandish statements like this that further annoy us users.

They outlawed trading on the boards so that we would have to use the Organize/trade functions of the site with the intention of charging for it later. I traded on this site for years and no one was concerned with my "safety" and I never got ripped off. What a joke!!!!!

RE: Paying For Organize...But heres my Question.
The only way this will work in the users favor is if no one pays for Org/Trade. We lived without it from Feb - April, so if they get zero revenue, perhaps they will revert the policy. After all, less traffic will hopefully cause the advertisers a reason to back out as well.
I will NOT be paying for Org and Trade, and since I don't collect for the "value" of my cards, I won't get the OPG either.
Please avoid paying for this until Beckett learns that revenue should be derived in a collaborative way with its users, and not imposed upon them.

Thanks - Sam

That will make no difference whatsoever. If I were to rip you off in a trade, there is nothing Beckett will or can do about it with regards to my credit card being on file. You and Beckett both have my address and name. That's more than enough information to pursue a remedy. A credit card is totally irrelevant. It's not like they can put a charge through on it to recoup someone's loss.

At the end of the day, anyone who gets ripped off simply did not do their homework. We all know why they implemented the ban on trading through the forums and if you believe it's for "safety reasons", I have a bridge I want to sell you.

If you wish to believe that, you can. However, since they have stopped allowing trading on the forums, through PMs or through emails, rip-offs and scams on this site have gone drastically down. People on here feel more safe (from those I've talked to) knowing they can see a feedback system on someone rather than Joe saying he's done 250+ trades. Nobody wants to get a list of emails to contact them and see if he's right, especially since all of those emails could be Joe's. Trades go faster and smoother (depending on how people have their Organize set up) and with less hassle than doing it through PM, through email or on the forum. You can START a trade on the forum, discussing what you guys might like to send, but leaving it there leaves both collectors at risk. And they stopped allowing trading on the forums, through PMs and through email a little over two years ago when the other trade system was working, and they didn't charge anyone then even though they could have.

However, I don't believe there is anything anyone of us can say that will change your perception about it. I know you have said Beckett is the site to be, but it seems like you have a one track mind (yeah, that is in sync with some other people on here) about why Beckett does what it does.

RE: Paying For Organize...But heres my Question.
ok here is the answer to the first question that was asked since most of you went off topic a bit

Here’s the prepared statement…

1) Can I get a refund if I purchase an Online Price Guide subscription?

a. At some time in the near future, if a member has an Organize sub and then wishes to convert to an OPG sub, we will have a process to apply a credit to their OPG sub for the unused balance in their Organize sub. More details will be made available as soon as we have them. If someone wishes to do this prior to this conversion feature, please provide the details to Customer Service for follow-up.

Collecting ANY cards from CUP

Just so we are clear, what part of what I said are you allowing me to believe? Everything I said is true.

Mostly true. Not sure what any of it has do with what I said.

First bold part: How so? Just because I discuss a trade in a PM or on a thread doesn't mean I am at a greater risk. Please explain how I am. Keep in mind the only time I ever got ripped off was when I put my trust in a trader's high feedback rating.

Second bold part: We probably wouldn't be having this discussion right now if they had started charging for trading back then. One of us, maybe even the site, would have ceased to exist here. Curiously enough, back then they didn't try to confuse the issues. They were going to charge for "trading" not the use of Organize and they "listened" to the backlash and "saw" the exodus of members which convinced them to come up with another strategy. The new owners are taking a cue from that failed attempt and are now changing strategies.

I was always taught that actions speak louder than words. So yes, there is probably nothing you can SAY that will change what I am seeing Beckett DO over the past 6 months. I do however welcome you to try and convince me Beckett has had "my safety" in mind all this time.

RE: Paying For Organize...But heres my Question.
Well beckett.com is going down I am not going to purchase organize I am CLOSING my account and going to another site so I can organize my cards I am not going to pay 20.00 a year just to organize my cards that is dumb I am not wasting my money for this.. If I had the knowledge to create my own site everything would be FREE no charge and I would have more people going to my site instead of this site.
