BGS 10 verses high book value

BGS 10 verses high book value
In the old days high book value meant gem mint. Now with the grading of cards over the last 15 years that is no longer the case. SO explain to me the difference between BGS 10 and high book value beyond the obvious like a nice plastic case and grading scores. I understand high book value is a guide and not a hard fast amount but I dont know how BGS9.5 and 10 are estimated.

RE: BGS 10 verses high book value
BGS 9.5 & 10's values all depend on the population reports. The fewer high number grade cards there are, the more people will pay for them.

Honestly in raw condition a card can't be valued as more than Mint which would be a 9 on the grading scale

RE: BGS 10 verses high book value
Book value generally equates to a 9 on modern cards. With a 9.5 a premium is the norm, and like Nemo posted population reports (low or high) will dramatically affect the multiplier.

All in with pocket Aces.... Andre Johnson and Aaron Rodgers.

and yet that same raw card which most would consider a 9(mint) could possibly be graded a 10 by SGC/BGS/PSA. Really strange when you think about it

Yes, but a BGS 10 is vastly different from a SGC 10 or PSA 10.

Well, yeah. A BGS 10 is considered "Pristine", a PSA 10 is considered "Gem Mint" and an SGC 10 is considered "Poor".

No, I meant SGC 10 as in SGC 98.

In which case it's another Gem Mint card so of course it's different than a BGS 10. "Vastly" different though? Highly doubtful.
