Year of the Super Rookies

Thumbs Up Year of the Super Rookies
Jeff Skinner has just scored his 30th goal as I typle this. Can you believe what a year it has been for hockey collectors??!

first and foremost we got some hidden gems from last year having breakout years - Riemer, Logan Couture, Grabner etc.

Then This year's crop has been spectacular: Skinner, Hall, Eberle, Paajarvi, Seguin

There has been pleasant surprises ie Bobrovsky.

And don't you love seeing guys live up their hype ie Subban?

Then there are the cards of players we know will burn up the charts eventually ie Nazem Kadri, Schenn, and Tedenby.

It is a year where anyone can sit down and argue 'who will win the calder?'
And there would be a lot of different arguements!!

RE: Year of the Super Rookies
Support all the way!

For what was supposed to be a mediocre (at best) year for rookies, this year has been stellar! Skinner, Eberle, Couture... the list goes on. Not only a GREAT year for hockey, but a PERFECT year for collectors.

Let's see what next year brings!!!

RE: Year of the Super Rookies
more surprises: Tyler Ennis, Stepan, Kevin Shattenkirk, and what about brad marchand! - almost all bonifide 20 goal men.

You could really go on with how many great rookies are playing fantastic this year and their cards are scorching.

Next year will be awesome but as good as this year? Only time will tell, but one thing collectors will be waiting for is the first cody hodgson cards of him in a canucks uni!!

RE: Year of the Super Rookies
Marchand's a 21 goal man thus far, haha. Still WAY too much competition for the Calder this year, it makes your head spin thinking about how many great first-season players are out there this year!

RE: Year of the Super Rookies
I would say that there hasn't been so many quality rookies in the league and on cardboard since 05-06

RE: Year of the Super Rookies
Marchand also has 5 (or maybe 6?) SH goals and last I checked he lead the league in rookie plus/minus. Thats part of my case for him as the Calder winner, although I don't think he has much of a shot.

As good as Marchand has been I think it is Skinner's.

RE: Year of the Super Rookies
Cam Fowler continues to fly (quack) under the radar in Anaheim as well! If his +/- was better he would have a great shot at the Calder.
