Which case to buy
I'm looking to buy a case. I want to stay somewhere around 1 grand on it. Which case would you go for at that price point and why?

RE: Which case to buy
I've seen nothing but solid pulls from Topps Tribute. I am planning on getting a 4 box case this summer. It's 6 packs, a guarenteed hit per pack, so that's 24 guarenteed relic/auto hits. A good value if you ask me. I think it runs just over a grand.

RE: Which case to buy
I personally wouldnt do Tribute, some ncie hits in it. But lots of commons like most products. Personally, if your leaning towards getting hits 08 or 09 SPX. 100 Hits and around $800 a case I believe.
Otherwise Find a design you like and bust a case of that. Maybe 08 Certified 8 box and 09 UD 12 box. Plenty of hits, some decent thrills to go after. ![]() Always Looking for Corey Wootton. I also can 50/50 MWL For Autos. |

RE: Which case to buy
I am glad to see someone else who agrees to not bother with 2010 products. Too much filler for too much cash! I would go with 2008 SPx or Finest myself. What you pick is up to you but most members will say something from 2010, especially NT & Exquisite b/c they are the newest products. You will be very disappointed if you buy a couple boxes (or a case) of either, unless you hit the big money cards of Bradford or Tebow. If I was going to suggest a 2010 product, it would be Topps Platinum or Contenders. I wish you great luck with whatever you decide!
Always looking for: Ozzie Smith/Stan Musial/Lou Brock/STL Cardinals, NFL-CAR/GB/NE and NASCAR-Jimmie Johnson/Mark Martin

I avoided a lot of 2010 Upper Deck because, for the price, they are just rehashing college uniforms....over priced in my opinion. The return on the investment also isn't good unless you get a big name. I put together more sets now rather than being an individual player collector. I have no interest in putting together a set with college uniforms. Topps Chrome is affordable at the price you are looking at. Not a big fan of multiple holofoil, scratched and off centered cards with occasional tiny patches. For my money, 2009 was the year for Upper Deck products. 2010 belongs to Panini. Looking at what I have put together this year (available for viewing in my photobucket), 2010 Certified gives you the most bang for your buck. There are a lot of nice action shots (comparable or better than Topps), a lot of nice patch cards, and a lot of autos of veterans, rookies and hall of fame players. The base set isn't too bad. this is spiced up with one box of platinum cards per 8 box case. Otherwise, I would look at 2009 or 2008 SP Authentic. melcmd http://photobucket.com/melcmd95boys |
