Beckett Members, please read.
Good afternoon. Unfortunately, I know there haven't been many updates lately on the progress of the site. Beckett as well as us mods are sorry that there haven't been many updates to report. The last couple of weeks have been busy for everyone; Taxes, personal lives (weddings, illnesses, etc.), Conventions (Beckett had to attend an industry convention in Vegas last week), and our daily jobs (for us mods). However, we're trying to get more updates out there. I severely (and I know I've said it many times before) need to update the announcement thread (adding, updating, etc.). I've been able to get on more and more the last week, just not long enough to update that thread as it is very time consuming. Well, car is fixed, job is smooth, house is clean, no more visitors, etc. for me, so by this weekend I hope to be able to update it. We've spoken with Beckett today and they're trying to get another update pushed soon (no specific time frame, but as soon as possible) and will update us mods as well as the forum with the updates.
We understand that not having the site at 100% capability is frustrating to everyone. The Help boards are meant to help everyone get acclimated with the new setup, new updates, and such. If you see someone that has asked a question that has already been answered, please point them to where the answer is or restate what the answer is. Hopefully once I update the announcement thread there will be more answers there. I may even make a new announcement thread as an interim users's guide. Please be patient with members who do not have the time to look through the board for answers to questions they have. As a mod it's difficult having to read a couple hundred threads a day and still maintain my work and personal life. Beckett is working as diligently as they can on getting issues fixed and "down" features (such as trade) working. New features will be mixed in there as well as they won't be as difficult or as intangible. Please be patient as the site is being worked on. At times, it may be slow or you may accidentally get logged off. This is ok as it normally means a small update was pushed, whether it be for speed or something small like the realignment of some text. I get PMs on my phone (well, I can access the site from my phone) so if you have a question, don't want to look to see if it was already answered, you can feel free to PM me and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. It may not be the same day, but I'd say no later than a day (maybe 2 on the weekends, depends on family stuff). Again, we apologize for the lack of updates as well as the current state of the system. Us mods are trying to inform Beckett of everything and Beckett is doing what they can to get the system to where it needs to be. Hopefully everyone will be around when the site is at it's full capability. Thank you. MODERATORTOS-Read it

Thanks, most of us are just watching and waiting.

RE: Beckett Members, please read.
It still amazes me that Beckett doesn't have a full-time employee for these matters. Someone actually sitting in a cubicle at the Beckett office, who can walk down the hall and see what's going on, speak directly to those involved, and then filter the information to us.
Either Beckett doesn't take it seriously, or more likely, they're having cash flow issues and can't afford staff. Whichever it is, it's unfortunate. It's not fair to put this on people who are essentially 'volunteers' trying to scramble in their 'free time' and track down people in E-mail and on the phone for facts. |

Eh, it could go either way, but from my experience with similar situations in the field it's best to not pay someone to specifically do that. Take for instance this issue I brought up when I first got into the programming business. I was doing software development and support. And not support in terms of "your code doesn't work or their code doesn't work, fix it", but support as in "my rollers aren't turning and the boxes are going down the wrong lane" (TEBKAC - Trouble Exists Between Keyboard And Chair). I mentioned to my boss, why don't we pay someone to do strictly support. Their simple and only answer back was "What if there are no problems to support? How do we justify paying them?" Kind of same thing here (maybe, maybe not). If they had someone come on to be the "face" of Beckett, how long does that last? Because once issues are ironed out, the senior employees would be able to do it more often and easier since they'll have more knowledge of the system. Also, to take someone who is currently working on something and move them to this would mean some part of the system would lose a resource. Bringing on someone new would still be loss of a resource as someone would have to train them. And maybe, by the time they were trained, most if not everything is ironed out. Good ol' catch 22. ![]() (03-29-2011 08:14 PM)john lamica Wrote: as the old saying goes "GOOD THINGS COME SLOW" I thought it was "good things come to those who wait." If there's one thing in this life of which I am certain is that there will ALWAYS be problems. Always. As someone who has worked in customer service for more than two years now, each day I go into work I never know what wheel is going to fall off, or how many, but one always finds a way. For every problem Beckett fixes, they'll discover three more. That's a guarantee I make to every company, in every industry. |

Thank you again for deleting my question, but you answered it in this post. You said the site is not operating at 100%, but why are we being charged 100% for the web site? let's go bucs! You said the site is not operating at 100%, but why are we being charged 100% for the web site? I'm a free user but I do agree about this. A sincere and a very open explanation will be so great. So many paying members are having so many problems using the contents and/or services of this site. Those contents and/or services must be problem free for them to use and pay for. Speed is already great! I am so impressed about it! I just hope that these updates will be implemented very soon and not later. We are almost in the second quarter of the year. At third quarter, I know that is long enough to wait for all the updates, fixes, and so on. At fourth quarter, that is too late for most of us(not me[free user]). Most are patient but most are trying to do business by trading, selling, and buying cards with the help of the opg and trading tools. If this are not 100% by third quarter, so many people will get more frustrated about this site and about Beckett's capability on running this site for us. Ultimately, I want all these problems to go away and all of us doing what we always wanted and proceed on our hobby. Godspeed, Peter Angeles ![]() I will miss you bbills1999 Where are you XstreamInsanity/Jason? |
