RE: pictures
i price my collection with no image help. if you want some help on exactly how to do that, i can help you
as far as images: beckett relies on users and the companies to supply images. not sure how beckett could have images of each card. the manpower needed just to verify the images they have would be pretty high (ARMY OF INTERNS!). to actually go out and find images of cards and verify? woo doggy Project Cupid, March 9th: raised 17k+ for cancer research. 60k over the past 4 years

RE: pictures
Yeah, that would be a lot of work to verify every card on this site. As for loading, well, that is another very long deal.
Ray collects Jimmie Johnson & The Cleveland Browns Kelly collects Matt Kenseth, Danica Patrick & The Pittsburgh Steelers ![]() This is still under construction. You can find our "Want List" at: http://randknascarcards.weebly.com/ |

RE: pictures
@jacobystealshome: You are always willing to help others and I love the fact you are here to help us out! BUT, it is the responsibilty of Becketts to put out a High Quality Product and it seems they do a pretty good job of that with their magazines so I guess we are expecting the data base and "Pic's" to be High Quality (there for the viewing) to help us submit our collections. To give credit to Becketts (I love the fact I can submit my cards online) BUT this is a business for them so they NEED to here our requests and MAKE it happen or people will not use their product as much or leave alltogether. I am unemployeed and I have spent about 2 weeks submitting my cards online and I love having this option. They could hire me on (From HOME) and I could verifiy images or pic's all day long to help this process out. I would work for a fair price to help you all out and give me a job. Thanks jacobystealshome and others!!!

RE: pictures
Beckett gets all of it's pictures from user submission (which they are working to get fixed) as well as from some manufacturers and some other sources. However, if you were to go to UpperDeck.com and look at some of their sets, not all of them have pictures. For these instances, we all have to wait until someone opens up a pack with that card in it and then scan it and submit it, which not every collector is on Beckett, nor has a scanner, nor even cares to scan their cards. That's the hardest part. Also, because of server size, bandwidth, etc., not every picture out there can be used. There might be a pic out there on ebay of a 1/1 but the person that submitted it used a very small picture and therefore it can't be verified. That is why at times, Beckett holds and image uploading contest with prizes so people can upload as many card images as they can of cards that are not in the system. It takes me quite a while, but I'm working on scanning my Pistons PC because I have about 1000+ cards that don't have images, so that's 2000 images I'd have to upload (front and back). I know they are supposed to have another contest when the submission part works, but I don't know exactly when that is. Your best bet is that when you have a card, take a scan of it, place it in the forum for which the sport is, and ask users what card it is and then you'll be able to find pricing.
Also, another issue with verifying images is scanner settings, picture light, quality of card, if it's in a sleeve/case, etc. My scanner scans some cards that have silver foil and makes them look like it's a black foil. But when I try to take a picture of it, either the flash distorts the picture or without the flash it's too dark (even outside at high noon)...or there's a glare from something. Verifying the difference between say 2006-07 UD Reserve and 2006-07 UD Reserve Gold is difficult as the only real difference is that the name is gold, and because of the reflective nature of the card, it isn't easy to tell via scan. Would anyone be willing to pay me for the following? If so, how much would you be willing to pay me? (This is just a hypothetical joke by the way. However, if it competed with my salary, I would love doing this as a career, lol.) Send me your entire collection. You pay for shipping. I will: Scan your cards (front and back) and create a photobucket for you I will send Beckett all scanned images named properly so they can update their system. Sleeve your cards with brand new sleeves Put your cards in brand new Top Loaders (proper size) Organize your cards however you want them (Player, year, brand, set, team, etc.) Update your Organize (organized the same way as it is in your collection) Place them in brand new boxes Ship them back to you Man that would be nice if that were my day to day job. Same thing for boxes too. If you buy a new box of cards, ship them to me, I'll open them for you, send you the video so you can put it on youtube, then ship the cards to you all prettied up. Just messing y'all.

RE: pictures
The addition of images in organize is a nice touch, but clearly not without fault. Of course it would be impossible to scan every card out there, but you'd think the one's that are displayed would be correct. As I was casually looking through my folders I noticed that my 2005 SP Signature Authentic Fabrics Singles #AP Arnold Palmer was tagged with an image of Jack Nicklaus. Not really complaining (and I know we've been through much tougher problems on this site), but it would be nice if all the new "bells & whistles" would work properly. I realize transition takes time and there will be errors, nobody's perfect, etc... - but that is what beta testing is for. I still won't ever understand how Beckett rushed to publish this new site with all these issues that could have been easily fixed before making it public. Not only does it upset users, but it makes Beckett look inept. Lose-lose situation.
