random pack breaks
Hey all. So for the past few years the wife and I have been talking about bringing the kids to disneyworld. For an average family, this is an expensive trip, for mine, well, let's just say it'll be a bit more.

I have 4 kids and my wife and I promised our 2 nieces (her sisters) that they could come along. We started our family when we were 17 with the birth of our daughter, and got married when we were 18. At the time, we promised her sisters that they could come along when we went to disney on our honeymoon, but it had to be postponed for family issues, and as our family got bigger, it just became harder to make the time/save the money. Now that my kids are 10, 8, 7 and 5, it is the perfect time. So we have a trip planned for November, but because of the large amount of people, we need to rent a villa to accomodate us ($$$).

Anyways, the trip (with airfare) is going to cost me in the $8000 dollar range (yikes) and I promised my wife that I would not buy any more cards until we had all of the money together.

It has been a month since I've cracked a pack, and Thursday was my birthday, so my wife went down to the LCS for me and picked up some random packs (really random, lol).

Here are the results:

2008-09 SPX (4 packs):

SPX rookie Darryl Boyce /499
Xcitement Patrick Kane /999
Xcitement Spectrum Lanny McDonald /99

2008-09 Black Diamond (2 packs)

Ryan Miller Premier Die Cut

2009-10 SPX (2 packs)

James Reimer RC /499

2010-11 Upper Deck World of sports (3 packs)

Dale Hawerchuk Jersey (2 colors, red and blue)

2010-11 Heroes and Prospects (4 packs)

PK Subban Game used Jersey (black and yellow from his belleville bulls jersey)

David Desharnais Auto

2010-11 UD Series 2 (8 packs)

Patrick Sharp Game Jersey
Jared Cowen rookie materials
Paul Martin Exclusives
Bobby Orr hockey heroes (just one of the basic ones, I forget the number)
Colby armstrong 20th ann.
Checklist 20th ann. (just the double sided one, not the young guns)
Travis Harmonic young gun
Nino Neiderreiter Victory RC

And finally, the owner hadn't seen me in awhile so he gave my wife a pack of Panini player of the day for me.

Standard pack of player of the day, RC's of Skinner, Seguin and Hall, base cards of Crosby, Ovechkin, Stamkos, Miller..

BUT....

My Taylor hall rc hapenned to be the GOLD version numbered 42/160.

Yay for me.

Sorry about the lack of pics (scanner is on the fritz)

Currently Collecting Patrick Roy, PK Subban and Carey Price.

RE: random pack breaks
You got a good wife to get you such a nice assortment of cards.
My wife's been begging me to go to Disneyland for our redo honeymoon (went to Cancun and I got sick and left early, lol). Luckily we don't have kids yet, just a puppy.
I haven't cracked anything in about a month either, I'm jonesin' for wax right now. It's hard resisting the urge.

First off..... Happy Belated Birthday! Hope it was a good one man!

That's a lot more money than I could get together to go anywhere. haha! Hopefully your trip goes smoothly, and you guys have a great time!

On a trading note: I'm interested in the Hawerchuk if it's up for trade.

Cheers,

Tim

RE: random pack breaks
Happy Birthday Adam!!!

Congrats on your packs. Looks like you pulled some real nice gems for some random packs. That PK will surly look nice in your PC.

As for saving for your trip and not buying hockey cards for a while, that's gonna be tough but for all the right reason's. Family trips and the memory's will last for ever and cards, well there just cardboard and there are millions out there to be had. Good thing is that the year is almost over and should only be a few sets left.

Chris
